Yes, I traded in the Lib. Just put one of my last remaining parts up for sale in it's respective category (a front susp skidplate kit).

Sorry, but after forcing it on a diet of extreme measures I still couldn't afford the 16/18mpg (city/highway). Had to trade it in. Today's cars are just too much more efficient to ignore. Picked up a 2011 Chevy Cruze Eco w/6spd manual. They say it'll do 28 city and 42 highway mpg's. I actually get (averaged) 31 city and 43 mpg highway. It's a 1.4 turbo, and weighs exactly 3007lbs. Let me tell you, it's really quite nice!

I do miss the Jeep for it's utilitarian uses... in fact I need it right now for I'm about to move again. But at least when I go back and visit VA I won't have to spend $150 each way. Now it'd be about $80. My job that I've been going to for the last 2 months was a 1 hour drive. In the Jeep that equals a quarter tank a day, just to goto work. :|

Anyway, I wish you all the best! Love that new bumper Digger! I hope to get back into the off-roading world as soon as I can. Hopefully another Jeep, or a Land Rover Disco.

Adios!

Completely understandable. I"m looking into the fuel efficient scene myself. My Jeep is paid for so looking to buy a preowned gas sipper outright (keep the jeep for weekend fun and towing) or trade the Libby in on something newer. Would love a 40+ mpg vehicle. Good luck with it.

Happy :JEEPIN: ...er, Cruzing I guess :goink:

Were getting some great deals on trades (how I got my 4Runner) because peeps think it's a good idea to buy a more expensive car that's more fuel efficient. It's a great time for the used business.

We currently can't keep enough Cruze's in stock in our Chevy store. Our KIA store Is down to it's lowest inventory levels in memory but our used car lot is over-flowing with trades. I'm not complaining, it's just not financially smart.

Congrats on the new car,

I personally have thought about it. But I use the jeep too much between the kiddo and all the towing I do. I hope to have it paid off soon and then buy a strict commuter that just takes me to and from work. I think this would be the better option.

Ouch!

I know how you feel. I lay down 600 miles per week just for driving to and from work, not including my play time driving. Good luck with the new car.

Quarter tank a day.

Seeing as how the Cruze starts out at a lower price then the Liberty, his payments could be cheaper and also getting double the MPGs, maybe it was a good idea on his part. :juggle:

However, his KK was worthless at trade and he would've had to roll over his negative equity into the Cruze loan. If you're dumping a gas guzzler due to fuel prices being high, everyone else is too and a dealership is not going to give you fair trade if no one else wants a KK either. I'm no expert though.

Depends on how much he owed on the KK. I was offered 17,250 for mine the other day at a Ford dealer. I paid off my truck already, but that offer even though it was low, was still higher than what my payoff amount was *16k*. I'm sure I could have gotten 18-18.5k out of them.

Quarter tank a day here as well, seems to be a reoccurring theme here haha.

Congrats on taking the Plunge! I'm still beating around the idea of a pos $2000 used thi g just for travel. Don't think the wife will go for it though.

Just bought a neon 3 days ago.

Going from 2 tanks a week (can we say 130 bux in the jeep) with a light foot and censoring my activities

to... two tanks in the neon with the ability to go where I want when I want. 35 bux filled it yesterday. :D

Increased car payment by 50 dollars and Id say roughly cut the gas bill in half.

Good luck nightdrv, we'll see you in another 4x4 soon Im sure of it.

i feel your pain. i thought the libby was bad on gas, i fill up every 4 days on my wrangler, thats $64 twice a week. so now the libby is my DD. wrangler will be for joy rides and short distances. id rather pay $60 every week than $64 every 4 days..... :banghead:
