In every other car my family has owned, the gas light will turn on pretty close to when the gauge reads empty. However, Ive noticed that my gas light goes on a little earlier than Id expect. How many gallons are left after the light turns on? Also, this picture was about 1 mile after the light came on. Doesnt it seem a little early for the light to come on?

I know this isnt anything major. Im just curious.

My 05 has about 3 gals left.
Why don't you fill and subtract from tank capacity? :?

With the 2004 Liberty I had it had 3.5 gals. left when the light came on. I have not checked our 2010. My guess is that they may be different from one liberty to another. The only way to check it would be to fill it up when the light goes on and subtract from the 19.5 gals. the tank holds. With the MPG the Liberty gets 3 gals. may not last long to get to another station to fill up, especially if you are towing a trailer. David

I usually wait a little bit after the projected miles remaining reading on the dash goes from an actual number to "need to refuel" or whatever it says. When i do that, I usually put in between 18 and 18.5 gallons.

X2................

Chrysler is actually saving you a very big bill by having that light come on so early.GM is known for frying pumps since there lights do not come on till you actually are running on vapors and repeated low fuel driving fry's the pumps.

MY '07 hold 20.5 gallons, and if I'm not mistaken, the manual says it turns on when there are 2.3 gallons left.
Better to have gas than not!

Im just making an educated guess that each of the tick marks on the gauge represents 1 gallon. There are 16 ticks and KKs have a 19.5 gallon gas tank and when I fill up it always shows the pointer about 3 clicks past the last larger tick. I think its safe to assume that each tick is 1, or about 1 gallon. That would also make sense of why the gas light comes on earlier on the gauge than I would have thought. Maybe?

True Story..

Our Light was on, I added 2 gallons and the light stays on...

My tank hold a bit over 19.8 gallons as I have filled it that much at the pump.
That was the first Click on Auto shut off. and I have not pushed it into the station...

I know all of Jeeps paper work say 19.5, that is round down number...

I am happy for the light... Just wish I could set it to come on when we have 5 gallons left.
Then a second red light come on when we have 2 gallons left. and "screem fill me up..." every 5 minutes till it is filled up

That's easy.Just get used to filling up on a regular basis no matter how much gas you have. For me I fill my tank every sunday regardless, after I check all my fluids, tire pressures, and then wash it.For me that is normally about 6-7 gallons, will vary from person to person as I mostly just drive back and forth from work and happens that RL is on the same route also.

I've noticed that mine - with the EVIC - seems to be based off of the projected kilometers to empty. - when my EVIC says "50 kms to empty" it will not be on, when it says "49 kms to empty" - "DING!" After that, it no longer says, "x kms to empty" it says "low fuel"

I would love to have the computer for MPG and miles to empty I wish my Liberty came with that option. Does anybody have any suggestions for a after market computer to be added to the Liberty? Thankyou for your suggestions. David
