So I've been driving the 6-speed KJ that we have here at work for a while now and LOVE the close ratios it affords!! It's especially great for driving through the hill towns on really steep narrow back roads. I'm not giving it up and not going back to the auto!!!

Anyways, one thing that I have noticed that sometimes when I shift into 2nd, it lags right off the line....like the traction control kicks on or something and doesn't let me accelerate smoothly or right away. It happened pulling out into traffic the other day and was not cool!! I've never been able to look at the traction control light when it happens and only thought of doing that now as I type this.

Is this a common problem?? There is no CEL.

Also, not sure if it's a problem or not but I can hear vacuum at low RPMs coming from the passenger side area of the vehicle????

welcome to the hell of a poorly coded computer with electronic throttle control and a stick shift car. that plus the torque management system that's written in there can make smooth/clean shifting hell.

I know it's traditional to way over-think things on LOST but is there any possibility that your clutch is worn out and beginning to slip?

I would assume its all the systems at work here (they love to mess with you at all times). But to test the clutch at a stand still put it in 4th or 5th let off the clutch and if if doesnt stall you need a new clutch. If it does stall your clutch is probably fine.

Clutch is good....it only does it sometimes......strange. I guess I'll chalk it up to the stupid electronic systems they have in these things. I love my wifes 04, no traction control or any other stupid BS!!

Other than the occasional strange lag (I guess due to the traction control/stability control BS) I absolutely LOVE this 6 speed!! LOVE IT!!

Mine does it occasionally as well. I think it is the electronic throttle control as well. Just be a safe driver and all will be well....

your sig says you have an 06. 06's didn't have e-throttles.

I noticed something similar on my 08 KK. Pulled the J6 fuse for the ECM and it's mostly gone. Still a bit of e-throttle lag, but greatly improved over having the ECM enabled. Only thing I don't like about it is losing the ABS.

I guess mine is by wire?...sorry. I guess I should pay more attention to what I am talking about. But it still lags a bit sometimes, and it does seem to happen in second.

After reading that it was probably the stupid, idiotic, POS traction control BS, I've tried turning it off (every time you start the darn thing, how annoying) and it doesn't do it with traction bs off!! It always happens in second taking a turn at an intersection or pulling out into the road when you're going quick and the body rolls a tiny bit....I'm used to a heck of a lot more body roll than the kj has, so it must be that stupid anti roll traction BS kicking in. at least I know what it is now, thanx!!
