Tom - you running the one from the previous post too? it looks like a straight plug in. as does the one from hidden hitch for the same money? the etrailer Hopkins a better brand?

The etrailer Hopkins one is the one I have, installed a UHaul one in 9/04 it stopped working in 3/05, this one has been on every since

cool. AAP sells Hopkins so I will go see what they have or can get today. I assume even with this one you have to rua power wire from pass rear to driver front to the battery.

As I understand it the hopkins 42475 style if you need flat 4 and it is the preferred style that plugs into wiring harness in the cargo area of the vehicle. I have it on order but etrailer.com doesn't understand what 3 day shipping means! Anyways, the instructions for that model show a power wire needing to be run to the front, however, that is no longer needed and they just haven't updated the directions.

I called hopkins and local places that have their products are Tractor Supply, NAPA, CarQuest, PepBoys, and although not local to me they mentioned O'Reilly's I believe.

Both Napa and Carquest can get me this part tomorrow at 8 AM if I order by close of business today, NAPA is cheaper.

screwed

after several hours cleaning all the threads so there would be no issues with installing the hitch.....the mofo hitch isnt fitting!

I dont think its for a KJ. the mounting surface will only hit 2 out of the 3 bolt holes per side...if and only if I cut about 2" off of the rear bumper.

so i have wasted time and money on this. hitch, paint, labor...blah blah blah.

i cant find a PN on the hitch to check and see what it fits.

Can ya take a picture?

Get a piece of paper, lay it up on the frame, make a template, measure, then put on top of hitch and drill you new holes to make it line up. I actually have a Chevy S10 hitch on our Libby, nice and stealth looking, can only see receiver hole from bottom.

this hitch mounting plate is too short...doesn't even reach the third bolt hole. not to mention I have to cut an inch or two off of the bumper. wifey = no way.

there is a pic of the hitch on page 1.

The hitch mounting points are the same for a KJ as a KK,just the KK hitch is raised up a few inches. Most likely if it's actually for a Jeep its for a WK/XK and not a KJ/KK.

Ask Tom he has a KK hitch on his KJ.

word from seller is he had it on his 08 KK. i checked and it looks like it would fit nice and snug if i removed a couple inches of the bumper. it would be nice n tight and very hidden. but....not what the wife wants.

Yep ran one until I got the RL bumper!
Just cut some from the bumper , she'll never see it since it will be up under the tire anyways, plus more ground clearance

I just installed a Reese universal hitch part # 37042 on my 06. I had it laying around. I have no idea if a Libby was on the list of the will fits but it was a snap.Just had to adjust (read hammer) 2 of the plates on the crossbar assembly that had pulled a bit when they welded it. It sits about 1" below the bumper and sticks out to the point where the bumper starts it's curve up.
I only put 2 bolts in it but I am pretty sure I can get a 3rd in.
Ace hardware says they have them. http://www.acehardwareoutlet.com/Produc ... =998004770

Now a question...Where exactly in the cargo area was that wiring plug tie in ?

You shouldn’t have any problems selling the KK hitch. Put it in the for sale section. Go with the Reese or buy a sexy RL rear bumper, lol.
