A simple payback calculator showed me that an improvement of 4 MPG with diesel at $4.00 per gallon would pay back the price of the Eco tune in 12,291 miles. Almost a no brainer if you are going to keep the Jeep for any time at all.

My Eco tune will be paid for in a few weeks... the HOT tune is gonna take a while longer. The entire package breaks even around 30K miles or so. Much sooner if you count avoided repairs and other issues caused by the factory setup.

I honestly wish I had just bought the Eco now that I have both, but having never played with any kind of tuner before I sort of wanted to play a little.

For me, I was confident enough in the reading I had done that I would get some level of mpg improvement, but to be honest I wasn't focused on payback interval. I like taking steps to improve driveability of my vehicles, and it sounded like the Eco-tune would do that. I'm extremely happy with the improvement, so the fact that it will pay for itself in well under a year is just more good news.

By the way, I drive 30,000 plus miles a year.

After a year of testing both tune I'm pretty happy with my result .For towing uphill in the montain I use the Hot tune, with 3000 pds of gear you need all the torque you can get at the minimum RPM possible, This year I use my Eco torque tune setup because my programmer have been rob in my son car so I cant put back the hot tune in the ECM (Long story)

The Eco torque did a good job but the hot tune got more power in reserve so climbing a 12% montain seem a bit effortless. One thing I dont mist from day one is the "Italian' tune I have to perform every 2 weeks to clean the catalyzer with the OEM programming. Now I just enjoy burning some rubber at street corner once in a wild to keep the beast in shape

Fuel economy? It's better with the tune but dont compare to a stock Cherokee CRD with a MB 3.0 engine

Issues?
1:Some Idle variation may accur but can be the result of other issue, I have no clue yet..
2:Engine starving under heavy accelaration with the Hot tune because the stock feeding system cant keep up with the demand so if you are a streets corner racer and like to kick the b... of those litle Japonees Kamikazi (AKA do "Harakiri" with them) install a lift pump!

Do you need a ECM tune? Maybe not on your land mower or your Eco friendly 4 cylinder car but on a Liberty CRD it's a smart and essential purchase.

I have both a KJ CRD and a WK 3.0L diesel. My KJ consistently turns in better fuel economy. But my WK is a US spec with the 3.77 rear axle, it's turning 2800 rpm @ 75 mph. That might count for something.

I'm not sure I get that comment either, a stock Liberty CRD is rated very close to the stock Grand Cherokee CRD, with the GDE tune the Liberty will get better mileage.

Definitely the 2,800 rpm is eating fuel. That's one the things I love about my Liberty, around 2,200 rpm at 73-74 mph. For best mileage you really want to be in the 1,800-2,000 rpm range.

I got 2 friends with CRD GC I compare "My" stock Eco tune KJ with them, my statement is based on a 500 miles HW trip we have done together at 100Km (legal speed here) I never past 700Km (450Miles) with my tank and he do +800Km (500miles) easy with his GC. Like it or not this is fact not fiction I fabricate in my mind.

PS: I dont know if the canadian version have a different spec but I doubt they make a special version for us.

Are the tanks even the same size?

I dont Know but we fill at the same station and he use less fuel then me  We avoid any brutal start/stop and use the cruise control. I lead to get to the destination and he follow me , then on return he lead and I follow him, my sensor was clean, my air filter was new and we both got new oil in the engine ...Well he need 10 Liters and mine needs just 6.4 liters

I still try to improve but with "My not install yet" Bilstein/OME lift kit he may never did better, maybe some of you get better MPG, this is based on "My" result not a political bill LMAO!

I'm getting 19 mpg towing my camping trailer so there is nothing to complaint about! My old TV get barely 14 mpg in the same situation weight a bit less and didn't have 4 wheels drive.

No issues here , just fact and satisfaction

I have nothing but the best things to say about keith, he has helped me every step of the way with my CRD, including the Turbo kit :D and transmission tune along with other problems that he dosnt normally have to deal with.

A CRD GD has a 22 gal tank, KJ has 20.5 gal

I remember my KJ getting a consistant 25 mpg stock with only an SEGR. When I traded the KJ for a GC CRD I was surprised that I was getting 23.5 MPG with it being a bigger vehicle with a bigger engine. I bought an ECO tune a couple of months ago from Keith at Green diesel for the GC and on this last tank got 27 mpg's. I'm blow away by the increase in power with the increase of mileage. I know the stock gearing doesn't help but it's still excellent mileage for the GC considering my fathers gas KJ averages 17 mpg. If i used all 22 gallons in the tank it would be near 600 miles.

Hey Guys
I've got both the ECU and TCM tune, and couldn't be happier. My fuel mileage increased and the Liberty feels a lot smoother.

Got my tune very early on (maybe 5th - 10th customer). I think I had about 70,000 miles on it at the time. I just cleared 140,000 and no issues that I can trace back to the GDE Tune. Like the other(s) poster(s) I also notice my oil is not as black as it used to be. Now I just need to get the Trans Tune
