Hey guys,
2007 limited, frankin lifted with 245/75/16 on Rubicon wheels.

My issues started in the last few weeks. It been about 4 months since i put the lift in with no issues. Then as of a few weeks ago
my wife told me that it made the funny braking sound like when you try to drift it and the brakes kick in. I thought nothing of it
until we went camping on the weekend. I was towing a 10ft tent trailer on the highway and every time i would come into a downhill corner
at highway speeds the little skid mark light would come on and the brakes would come on. Ive done some searching and read a few things on clock spring,ABS module and sensors. If anybody has had issues like this please let me know! I'm wondering if it because of the towing?

It's the ESP freaking out due to the lift.If you already have done the alignment, and one a few months after install, there is not much you can do but live with it or pull the ABS fuse to disable the ABS/ESP.The KK guy's suffer the same problems for the most part after lifting.

This happens to me all the time.

But it only started about 15k miles after the Frankenlift, could the front end have sagged that much that I need another alignment and causing these issues?

I have no front winch or bumper. Only recently added a front hitch, but it was already happening before that.

When did you get the bigger tires? I was lifted and on stock size tires and had no problems with this for a few months, then right after i put on 245/75/16s i started to have this problem. The sensors don't compute with the larger tires on turns and the computer unfortunately cannot be flashed for them. I go back and forth with the esp pump fuse pulled and not pulled.

the left thing was off the top of my head, which uh.. isn't functionign real well at the moment

what troy said bout it basically being unavoidable is infact the case however

i just remember something in the early discussions with the active brake system about... the ABS light coming on when turning left? perhaps that was the issue i was recalling

it's due to the lift and due to something that if a sensitive electronic system didn't tell you was occurring you'd probably never notice it

the front of your vehicle is IFS, the rear is solid axle, when you lift the rear the tires stay the same width apart, when you lift the front the tires get closer together, alignment helps correct part of this but not all of it when turning your front and rear wheels are traveling and different speeds than the computer perceives as acceptable based on a pre-set acceptable range of wheel speed difference

in other words it thinks you're sliding

--
if it didn't do it for you right after you lifted and aligned, try getting an alignment again

firestone lifetime alignments a pretty good deal

hope that made some sort of sense
more so hope i didn't screw up the explanation cause im pretty well medicated atm

I actually have the Firestone Lifetime, and two different places by me told me that they have to put it to factory specs.. and both times they were terrible. I've had to pay out of pocket to a shop to do it properly. I guess it's time to go back.

Also, as Troy mentioned, what is the correct fuse to pull for the KJ's? I know on the KK's it is J6.
Is it even possible on the KJ to do that?

Hey Dean the firestone by Brians house did a really good job with my alignment when I installed my UCAs. Guy that did it has a pretty sweet lifted XJ. From now on that will be the place for my alignments. If you're around the area some time stop by and see if they can do it.

Tell the wife it's not a 4dr sedan and that the Jeep cannot corner like say a Mazda 6 can.
:-)r :ROTFL:

I had the same problem when taking on curves at higher speeds. Felt like the thing was going to flip. Scared the pee out of me the first time it happen. Now I just drive slow(er) and try not to get into a hurry. Just like TJKJ said, it's the ESP freaking out due to the lift being on there. Something we all must compromise with having a lifted KJ/KK. You'll get use to it eventually and learn how to control the problem.

I'm definitely going to make sure I'm in the neighborhood, lol. If you have your receipt, can you text me the technician's name? I want to make sure hes working.

most shops have to do alignments buy numbers. if you go to a shop that does a real alingment have them give you what numbers they use. then take it to firestone and do it buy those numbers that is what ihad to do.

Our alignment rack has the specs already in the computer and get's updated every year.

Until you do something as extreme as what I did to my KJ you use OEM specs.

Yeah and you can sacrific caster for camber as long as cross caster is within .5 degrees and you have at least 2 degrees of caster.

I get that on mine from time to time. About the only time I get it is when entering or exiting a freeway on the clover-leaf style turns. Long turns seems to kick mine in. Slow down and it goes away.

now i finally figured out what was happening on the clover leaf entrances that texan is talking about. had this happen maybe three times i went into the turn too fast(no rear sway bar) and it felt like ABS came on when i know a wheel wasnt locking and none were in the air :-)r

I wonder if this happens more with the Franken guys then the just the OMEs? More lift, usually more tire.... Do new UCAs help this as they aid in getting proper alignment?
