Need to know how the rear axle shafts come out.
Randy blew his spider gears and we can't figure out exactly how to remove the shafts to get the carrier out.

(This is his GF btw)

Special socket or somethin????

btw it is an 8.25 with discs

like a c-clip?

but isn't there some sort of nut or somthin on the end to get the hub off?

we still have the hub on and the dust shield for the discs, we have the diff open and the rotors and calipers off, where do we go from there?

I thought the 8.25 was non C-clip?

If so, it should have a backing plate behind the brakes, you will have to take the calipers off, remove the backing plate and use a slide hammer to remove the axle.

If not, then yes there ia a C-clip in the differential.

yeah there are bolts on the backing plate but they are round with one flat side.

on the outer part of the hub there is a big hole sort of thing that is round on the top and bottom and flat on each side, no nut or anything though so we can't figure how it comes off.

I can't imagine that even if it is a c-clip axle that the only thing holding it in is the clip

If I remember correctly, You just push in on the axle to release the C-clip.

Push the axle in to show the c-clip in the rear end. Get the c-clip out which ive heard can be hard and the axle will pull out.

did not read all these but:

take tire off jack up axle

1) remove diff cover bolts
2) pry off diff (have bowl under to let oil drain)
3) pop off the c-clip holding the axle in place
4) remove brake calipers
5) remove axle

easy with open diff.

what broke in the diff?

Ya - I figured it was like all the Dana axles Ive worked on. No need to remove the backing plate nuts. I snapped the damned set screw holding the carrier pin in place. Drilled it out (fun) and with the spiders out everythig else just came apart.
Thanks kids! (this is Speedy btw).

So is the 8.25 a C-clip axle?
