Is the light output good?
Better then two 6 inch PIAAs mounted on front bumper?

Legal to have on along with heads on road??

not legal to run renny lightbars on public roads

depending on local/state regs it may not be legal for you to run the piaa's

edit: didn't realize you were in IL, as long as the piaa's have dot stamps IL will let ya run them, just make sure they're aimed well

nope we cant run them in il...i do but they all come off as soon as i see cars coming

i got hella 500 on bumper

and 500s on roof

That is some serious candle power you got there! I have only used my Renegade light bar once on the road for an extended period of time and it was I29-50 in Alabama divided interstate with no traffic around at 4 am.

Just as a general question...do you pronounce PIAA like peee-yaaa or pee-eye-ay-ay?

4 100 watt KC Daylighters up top on a homemade light bar that cost about $50 to make.
Compare that to the approximately $400+ for a Renny bar, plus lights, etc.

For what you pay for a Rene light bar you can almost pay for a great looking rack and then mount some lights down lower that would not hit every tree limb you come to. Lights are about 1/2 inch above the roof even though they look higher

I have some 500's and I think they do not produce enough light.

and like new old timer said, he does the wiring and stuff too...im sure he would be more than glad to help ya out when he has the time, heck ill even help out too since he has helped me so much

Ditto on 500's not producing enough light 5 couldn't make as much light as 2 Hella Rallye 3000 Compacts, It looks as tho the lights in Tomms pictures are Hella Comet 200 or 300's. It's skewed tho so maybe they are something else.

I have 4 Hella FF300s on the Rock Lizard rack in front,
the out side ones are wired together and are angled out to the sides a little to watch the sides of the "back" roads,
two center ones are wired together as well aimed straight ahead
Rear is two FF100s on the rack, not the best pic but you get the idea

There is a guy over on Expedition Portal who has compared a ton of lights even headlight replacement bulbs hence why I switched to the Phillips X-Tremes
Can't find the post right now ( at work) but Hilldweller is the guys name there. Also Overland Journal did light test back about a year ago.
If you like to read look up Daniel Stern Lighting he has a ton of info on replacement bulbs etc

I have the renny bar on top and 2 hella 500's on the front bumper. They do fine, but if you have to ask the answer is "no you dont have enough".
