i just noticed that the stock tire size in my Renegade is 225/75R16. Does anybody elde have the same size because I looked at Jeep and they say its 225/70R16. I am asking because I want to replace the POS Wrangler STs. and if anybody would suggest any tires that will fit it will be great.

Just look in the tires section for what other members have on their KJs. MT/Rs are a popular choice for mud tires - VERY agressive. The REVO and BFG A/T are top pics for all terrain (everyday but give you traction off road.)

My '05 Renegade had 225/75 STs that I replaced with Firestone Destination A/Ts in 245/70 (including the spare) and have no regrets. There is no rubbing that I can detect in stock form, even at Camp Jeep last year.

I put the Destinations on at 2,000 miles and then drove to Camp Jeep and got 21.5MPG (manual calc) climbing the hills. So, this tire does not seem to affect gas mileage at all. They are quieter and feel much more stable than the STs as well.

I'll agree with Wvliberty, the Destination A/Ts are great. Snow, dirt, rain, dry pavement, light mud - awesome traction. This winter I rarely put my KJ in 4WD while driving in the snow.

There are two stock tire sizes for the 16" rim:

225/75R16 (8.9 x 29.3 x 16)
235/70R16 (9.3 x 29.0 x 16)

There was also a 215, but that wasn't available on the 05 (good) Not sure what the 17" rim tire size is.

Without lifting, most people here suggest getting this size, which will fit fine:

245/70R16 (9.6 x 29.5 x 16)

With a lift, the most popular size is:

245/75R16 (9.6 x 30.5 x 16) (called a 31" tire by Rubicon owners, despite only being 30.5")

Some tire places won't install even a 245/70R16 for you, in which case, you should either find a different tire place or get the 235/70R16, which is a stock size.

sorry to sorta hijack this thread but....We tried to see about getting 235/70 REVO's to replace my 215/75 ST's on my 04 sport, but we couldn't find any reasonable price, so I'm going to get some Destination A/T's tomorrow. Will let yall know how I like em

245/70/16's are ok on a stock KJ - no rubbing at all - I've had them for about 3 months and have nothing but good response from them

225/75 16 is now a stock size. You can run up to 245/70's with really no problem.

I noticed when I was at the dealer with my measuring tape, many rigs come with that size now.

I have no regrets with Destination A/T's, I can't seem to cut them off-road either, don't know what the heck they are made of??

They have carried me out of my river bottom, up a 50degree angle, 80 foot long hill, (no road,unpacked) twice a week for a year without airing down. The suprising part is, its easier when muddy. It spins a little more dry. They work well on the pavement (especially wet) too.

I don't know why this tire performs so well for an A/T

I think most anything would be better than the GY ST's safety wise. The few weeks I had them, I slid threw every stop sign in the rain.
