I was out in the Mojave the other weekend and had a CEL on the way home and got the p0700/p1776 transmission fault codes from my scanner. The last time this happened it was bad news... I'm a bit worried.

Think good thoughts for my Jeep. :JEEPIN:

Thanks.

Well it appears that I may have been lucky this time. I cleaned the mud off the undercarriage and checked the connector to the solenoid, which seemed OK, cleared the codes and drove for a while around town and up on the freeway and the KJ is shifting up through the gears as it should.

I'm going service the transmission, more carefully inspect the wire to the solenoid, do any needed repair there and hope for the best.

Thanks to all for the good thoughts... :!: :!:

I just had that same P0700 code on my '99 WJ. I changed both of the transmission speed sensors, and within 70 kms the CEL turned off.
When ours through the code the tranny shifted super frickin' hard, and would not shift past 3rd gear.
Too many codes in these newer vehicles. :banghead:
