When buying tires do you get the road hazard? Is it worth it?

If you have the 242(select trac t-case) it's worth it's weight in gold.

If you do have the select trac and want to use fulltime 4wd(and have it actually shift into fulltime) the tires must be equal in air pressure and not more then 3/32"-4/32" tread depth between all 4 tires. If you get down to say about 6/32" tread on all 4 tires and get a non-repairable flat you have to replace all 4 tires(say new tread depth is 12/32"-14/32"),the road hazard warranty will cover the non-repairable tire and pro rate(or some form of discount) the other 3 tires so you don't get stuck paying full price for 3 tires.

Just make sure you find the whole policy at the place you bought/buying the tires,it will vary from place to place.I can tell you Firestones policy(basically what I already stated).

But eitherway a few extra bucks per tire will at least cover a few flat repairs down the road, just think of it as pre-paying for unlimited flat repaires and at least 1 new tire.

I wish i had gotten it. less then 1500 miles on my grabbers and i got a snake bite in the middle of the sidewall on a trail at rausch. luckily the tread are all basically brand new so i dont have to work about the full time/esp issue, but it would have replaced the tire or at least given me a discount.

I purchase road hazard when I buy my tires. It is usually about $12 per tire. Well worth it to me.

Also, having selec-trac is why I do a five tire rotation. It keeps all five tires at a closer tread depth. That way, if I do have something happen to one of my tires that isn't repairable, I will at least have another that will be the same depth as the other three. I'll stick the new one on the back for absolute emergencies at that point.

With my busy schedule, amount of miles driven, and peace of mind; I always buy 5 new tires with the road hazard plan. Free 3,000 mile rotations at Firestone, Discount Tire, and Big "O" Tire makes my life less stressful. There are lots of Firestones, Discount Tire, and Big "O" Tire locations in all the states that I drive in.
