Hey folks, I am looking into do a speaker upgrade. A few of mine rattle and one is completely shot. Has anyone done this or know an average cost? I am rather handy-man incapable so it will be done in a shop. It would be great to hear from others. Thanks

Honestly, buy 6.5 door speakers with the 6 and 3/4 adjusters, and look up a tutorial. It basically consists of, door panel of, three screws for speaker, two wires, and then in reverse again. There are no stock tweeter replacements, but i got 2 way door speakers with mid and treb(tweeters) so they help, then i have my sub covering the bass aspect. also you might find some helpful answers and topics in the electronics thread.

Leaving the stock head unit and just switching the speakers makes a heck of a change. Pretty easy to swap and well worth it.

If you are considering to go to a shop for the install, then you should be able to pick out anything you like from their selection in the 6.5 - 6.75 range and let the shop worry about all the connections and the fitment. A word of caution though for the most part you want to look at the price and consider that. You get what you pay for. Though for the most part, anything you get should greatly increase the sound quality. As for Tweeter replacement, are they rattling? If not don't worry about them. Do replace the others in pairs at least, and all four is best.

X2 on crutchfield. I have never had any complaints about ordering from them. They have a lot of tools and information. I would recommend using them as a guide and then searching for the part somewhere els for less to actually buy. (amazon, maybe Ebay... You can then find a shop to install for a fee of course or start with a radio install to get familiar with your Jeep.

I've had very good luck buying from www.sonicelectronix.com and about half the time I'm looking for something they have the lowest price. I replaced my stock speakers with Pioneer TSG series. I didn't want to spend a lot and even the cheaper Pioneers are pretty good.
