Had the whole left front apart (did a CV and UBJ)and its back together now. Was hoping to get everyones opinions and\or experiences with putting the front back together.

Best practices, things to watch for. Sorry for the vague question but this information could prove valuable to me.

Thanks in advance,

-Mike

The thumping can be any number of things, tires being out of balance, brake rotors, driveshaft cv's, CV axle shafts, tie rods, small animals, a homeless person, you name it. Just go over everything while your down there and make a priority list based off of how critical the parts are. I just tore the whole front end out of my jeep, and its not fun, especially if you have 8 years of rust and grunge to get through.

Make sure your CV shaft is seated properly, and then put it all back together, make a list of all the nuts and bolts you tightened and check them off as you go. When you get the vehicle back on the ground re-tourqe them. Get a paint marker and put a dab of paint on the nut & bolt, so you can see if its moving, re-tourqe after 500mi, and you should be good to go.

How do I know of the CV is seated properly? I checked both last night and holding the inner cylinder(best description I have)... I could move it back and forth maybe a half a centimeter. Is there something I should especially re torque after putting her on the ground?

BTW, Thanks for the starting info....

Anyone else!?!?!?

Knocking on my desk as I type this but I think all is good. More so an issue with these cruddy roads in my area and the paranoia of my first time that deep into the jeep. Still taking sugestions on front end best practices but (knocking again, lol) I'm good.

Keep :JEEPIN:
