Jaguar Land Rover will offer U.S. customers the option of a diesel-powered Land Rover in the next few years. Well, It's no CRD but at least someone is thinking of options. I hate to see the price tag. :SOMBRERO:

All Wars in History can be traced to one thing, Politics.
Also the "Art of War is the Art of Deception"* and the Junk Science behind some of the Regulations is part of the Deception.
The outcome of Politics in 2012 will determine what happens in 2013 with new diesels and Spark Ignition engines as well.
There is new technology on the Horizon for clean diesels (Bosch & Mazda have demos and documentation online) with out a DPF or EGR, but the EPA does not look at the results, they just wants to hang onto their regulations, even if there is a better cleaner way.

And that brings back a host of fond memories about British car electrics that would make a CRD look fabulous. At least we wouldn't have a return to downdraft carbs, not on a diesel anyway, or lever shocks I hope.

Notice how (once again) the report has them being available in [current year +2] model year timeframe? This is always the case, see my previous rants on this subject.

If it happens, I will happily shut up and buy a round of drinks for the people who prove me wrong. I'm not expecting to EVER have to make good on that however.

Not with the Honda Ridgeline diesel
Not with the Ford Ranger diesel
Not with the Chevy 1500 series diesel
Not with the Ford F150 diesel
Not with the Chevy Canyon diesel
Not with the Toyota [insert model here] diesel
Not with the Jeep [insert model here] diesel...

See the pattern? Noises have been made about ALL of these in the past, and ALWAYS at [current year +2] availability in the market. None have ever been heard from again, certainly not when the aforementioned 2 year wait had expired. Instead, some BS excuse is presented as to why it is STILL 2 years out. Forever.

I just want what they have available in Australia. The FORD and GM vehicles down there kick some serious diesel booty, and you don't hear about the Aussie air quality being terrible do you?

Don't forget
Dodge Ram 1500
Honda Accord - that one got as close as 1.5 years if I remember but maybe it doesn't count as it's not in the class listed.

Oh, I wasn't listing any specific vehicle class, just brands and models that I remember noise being made about "diesel coming soon" for each of them. As such, yours qualify for that list just as much.

It should be illegal to tease the public like this, it is worse than false advertising b/c that might possibly have a grain of truth in it. These manufacturers never INTEND on giving these to us, so this is tantamount to outright fabrication.
