Marlon, I'd think you would get more compliments/inquiries with yours being the turned up style  Mine, they just love to stand on them and when they step down, its usually the same "whoa, those are solid" type comments :-)r They sure have come in handy for defending against some of the stumps and rocks typical of the scouting locations I've been to.

"I have never seen a Liberty with this much offroad stuff on it. Are these rockrails?"

Then they jump and bounce on them. It's friggin hilarious and I just stand back and laugh.

Mine however have been kinda... used. :ROTFL: And they have the marks to show it.

Marlon, I've looked at the JCR rails and they do look really nice. Just wondering on the fit of the angled edge on the main support to the body. Is it pretty flush to the plastic body panel or is there any noticeable gap? I would just wonder how they fair if they bump into a rock. Just looks like a nice edge to hit with instead of how the RRO rails are angled in the opposite direction, with their claim of acting as a ramp for sliding with that edge. Since I've never had rails, I can't say I know either way which is better, so just was hoping you might have had experience with it.

This is the only close up picture I have...

Noticed this "damage" yesterday. Obviously caused by some idiot in a parking lot. But it does show the fitment of the rails against the plastic panels. I think it's great.

Hmmm... I never noticed that before. Interesting observation, but not having a dedicated trail KK I never really paid attention. But I think you may have answered your own question. I think most people want a bolt on and forget it mod. There are some on the forum here though who wouldn't mind the extra work of customizing. Makes sense to me to have wheel to wheel coverage though if that's what the Jeep gets used for. Heck, I wouldn't mind the type 2 prototype for my KK from JCR if they still had them. Great step for my youngins and solid extra protection. I'll be heading up kinda that way (East Detroit) on Friday. Kalamazoo is not too far from there. Hmmm... Happy :JEEPIN:

I already cracked mine and it was the result of hanging my KK on a nice hard PLOWED snowbank. Had to bow my head in defeat and have my 17 year old daugther show up in your 02 KJ limited and pull me out. Found a new use for her skid plate (she didn't have hooks) and learned the difference between a tow strap and recovery strap :banghead:

Was looking for one of those front brush/push bumpers I've seen on KK's that can hold a couple of driving lights but ran accross these sliders instead. I want some so sent wife an email to put on my xmas gift. Now, want to find some heavy duty shocks (mine are stock and have 56k miles on'em) that might give me a little lift or put me back up where I was before I added all that under armor to it. Anyone who can point me in the right direction for a light set or bar/addon to the front would be appreciated. Not wanting to replace the bumper as i'm not going to take on a rock wall but something to add a couple of driving lamps too without destroying my current PLASTIC bumper. Thanks

I was actually looking into a brush guard for Christmas. My parents agreed as long as it's what I want. We did a bit of searching and found this http://www.carid.com/2011-jeep-liberty- ... 63855.html

I plan on getting the stainless model if I do get it though. And it is by far not the best price. Do a little shopping to find a better price, even some shops might carry it or can order it. I took a ride out to 2 shops in Queens, NY that carry it with my Dad on Sunday. 1 shop offered $550 installed and another was $500 installed. So do some shopping.

Back on topic, these are nice. It gives me more options. I'm not sure what to get, either stage 2 or stage 3. You said the only difference is stage 3 bends upward and stage 2 doesn't, correct? Does that mean the outer bar is closer to the body on stage 3? If so, how much closer?

I'm not sure. I think it mounts to the same place. I don't have tow hooks so for me its a plus. If I use it as recovery and it bends I'll just tell my Dad I told you so and talk to the guy at the shop. 1 by me does custom work and said he'll fix it if needed be.

Shocks do not give lift, only way to get real lift is with springs
shocks control ride ( not letting the springs bounce)

Thanks for the info. But, from looking at the picture, do you have to remove your hook(s) to install this? I only have one on the front (would have two but salesman could only give me ONE free when I got the rig. Guess he got tired hearing me cry about my 04 and ALL JEEPS in general didn't come with snatch hooks when a cheapy toyota or honda did. So, he got one and had it put on for me).
I've seen another smaller brush bar of sometime that looks like it just protects the grill. But 300 bucks isn't bad. It's on my list but not that the top.
1. Rock rails
2. inexpensive lift kit to give me 2-3 inches more then what I have after putting all this extra stuff on.

We have sold 1,000+ pairs of sliders over the years and have yet to repair a set under our warranty. That doesn't mean some haven't bent, broken, etc... it just means no one has told us.

The biggest difference I can see in the Rocky Road sliders is they use 1 x 1 square tube for the legs, and we use 1 x 3. I'll be happy to answer any more questions you have.

Here is a short video clip a customer sent us a few years ago, he said there was no damage after this.

Is it just my eyes or does this video show a big bend in those sliders as the truck pulls off that rock?

My eyes see the same ... Looks like a big dent in the side of the slider as he comes off the rock.

Looks like they bent to me but really hard to tell for sure.

Ask Tom to post a pic of his passenger side rail. His set of RL sliders were originally on my KJ and well tested. The passenger side rail took a major hit that makes the one in that vid seem like a getting hit with a feather.Dropped off a rock and onto another rock, about a foot or so drop, right on the front bend of the outer tube and at the time my KJ was weighing about 5500lbs.The hit was so hard that Marty(makes the RL sliders and riding shotgun) told me to stop as he thought I just broke that rail.Just put a small dent in the outer tube and barely noticeable.

They did not bend! The force it would take to crinkle .120" round tube would be catastrophic to the Jeep. What you are seeing in the video is the dirt/dust being scrapped off the tubing from being drug across the rock.

We have seen people put small dents in the front corners of the side tubing, and gouge the tubing, but never any massive damage. You do have to remember their intended use; to be drug, smashed and crashed into rocks and other obstacles. They are built to protect the body of the Jeep, but because of the nature of their use, you may end up scratching them and maybe even putting small dents in the outside tubing. But that sure beats the damage that you would see to your Jeep without the $300 in protection these offer.

Looks to me like the dust/dirt rubbed off, and not bent.
