Hey Sir Sam, How well did your lift pump install go? Did you have to modify the new harness that you ordered?
Any other tips to share?

Ya I stripped a couple of wires out of the new harness and installed them into my old harness, all in all I think it would have been easier to just modify the 05 harness.

They way I did it I removed the wire from the donor, installed it into the old one, and added a bit of length up in the cabin area of the harness to make up for the the fact the gasser harness is 5" shorter.

In retrospect I think the easier option would have been to use the gasser harness, all I would have needed to do were move the level sender pins to the correct place on the gasser harness, the rear speed sensor wires were in the same place and the lift pump POS+ wire is in the correct place. The ground wire just simply returns to ground.

However doing it the way I did it insures that I have leftover bits of wire for the future, I will be able to modify other harness's in the future with my leftovers.

Could you clarify with pictures by chance?

Ya at some point I would like to, I spent lots of time trying to figure out the wiring simply because there weren't any pictures posted that helped me, I'll get some photos online but I'm really burning it at both ends these days so its not gonna happen right away.

i ended up doing the add a wire version.
bought the little end pieces for the harness and soldered them ect...

honestly, i laughed at myself once i did it for thinking it was going to be hard.
i used a multi meter to find which wire to connect to in the harness, that was easy, find the one that puts out 12V for ~20 secs then turns off.

Biohazard does have a nice writeup, youll see I reference that earlier in the thread and is also what I put in the noob guide.

CRDjon has some nice photos as well, but they are a little confusing since he is posting photos of an 07CRD, and an 06CRD harness, when I goto look at my 05 CRD harness I have less than half the number of wires, and of different colors.

So I will add my two cents in photos later to help clear it up for 05 guys. gmctd also had good instructions early on in the "where is your lift pump thread" where he named the correct wire and color combo for the 05, but its hard to decipher without seeing a pinout diagram.

On that note there is no connector information or pinout diagram for that connector under the carper, as far as I can tell it does not exist at all in the FSM. If you trace the circuits back they don't show them going through that connector at all, makes it a little more difficult to consult factory reference information when its not there. My day would have been a little easier during the install if I had just had a FSM to look at and see which wires were which and where to install them. I intend to make a pinout for those two plugs between gasser and CRD so this confusion doesn't happen again.

Ya thats what I ended up doing, I spent a fair amount of time looking through the FSM for the wire first before I determined it was not in the manual. I then went and looked at where the power wire went into the gasser harness, and then checked that wire on the body side connector, turns out its the same pin.

So for the record, the pin that supplies the power to the pump on the gasser is also the pin that supplies power to the pump on the CRD. However the pins for the fuel gauge sender are different.......

anyways, i will take photos and make some pinout diagrams for the people like me that need to see what the connectors have in them to see what needs to be moved where.

I clicked on this link to order the terminals with no luck. Any suggestions as to where to buy in small quantities?

I am going to do the install after the holidays. I can get the terminals. With the shipping being more than the terminals ,I am willing to order for others at the same time. Cost of terminals plus two stamps for postage should do it. If you are interested PM me. I will be away from 11/14-11/30

I would like to do mine soon before it gets any colder. Can you give the link so that I can order my own? I'm going to need enough to do three of four installs.

OK, I found a link for the terminals, but not being a "business", I can't seem to register for an account :banghead:
I gave up and ordered two 05 gas harnesses from the jeep dealer today.
