I have a Draw-Tite # 75128. It is very heavy duty, has nice rings and was a perfect match up to the holes in the KJ already.

Also the sister company Reese has a #37053

I like my draw tite. Rated higher than any other hitch and is longer to help clear the spare on the back. A regular 9" receiver will almost clear the tire with it, my 2in drop clears it fine. I didnt need the 2in drop before the lift and it was hard with a 1in drop hooking the boat up.

I have a "Quality S" hitch, it's round-bar, mounts with 6 bolts instead of the normal 4, hidden-type hitch, so you don't see much of it below the bumper. Overall I like it.

That being said, I would have gone with a Reese or Hidden Hitch if I didn't get such a good deal on this one. I've never heard of "Quality S" before, and searching for the model number "QS227" looks like they don't even exist.

Mines the first one, it uses 6 bolts also.

Are there any that you would reccomend best for use as recovery only? I dont really plan on towing much and if anything nothing that heavy. But recovery for getting stuck yes. Anything?

I have the Hidden Hitch. I know there is alot of support for Reese and Draw-tite...they do make a very nice product, but I can only speak about what I have. Hidden Hitch, part # 87006: It mounts with 3 bolts on each side, for a total of six. Hidden Hitch receivers come with a corrosion resistant finish. It mounts up high and tucked under real nice, so only the square shaped hole is really visible. There is plenty of clearance for a gas tank skid, diff skid, etc.

I got mine from JC Whitney. Hitch:$120. "Free shipping" + $7 oversized item surcharge. At my door in 4 days.

Rick

JeepJunky, I would get the curt from etrailer or the hitch kickit_in4wheel was talking about. They are both about the same price.

The curt only uses 4 bolts so its not a strong as the hidden hitch.

Hidden Hitch from e-trailer. I get coupons all the time from them for 10% off or so. I'll see if I still have one. It'll handle more than the KJ is rated for.

This weekend I plan to tow a nice sized u-haul out to the Hamptons. The empty trailer is 1,850 lbs! I'll be buying LOTS of insurance!

I really like the one on JCWhitley. The first one is a hidden hitch and says taht it is rated up to 5k I think and it's only $119 $136 after shipping.

Looks like the same hitch as the one I got from e-trailer. I found an old 10% off coupon and just tried it but it didn't take. I'll check with a friend to see if anyone's got a recent coupon. $132-10% is just a hair cheaper than the JC Whitney price.

Actually, if I were you, I'd call e-trailer and ask them to match the JC Whitney price. e-trailer is very good. I've been very pleased with their services so far.

Don't forget to get, at the VERY least, a pin to hook the recovery strap to. What's cooler is what I have, that receiver shackle. But it's more money. Just looks so cool hanging there!

I was planning on getting a d shackle that connects to the hitch. I read that someone makes a d shackle that fits into the reciever. But will a class III hitch be strong enough to safley use for recovery?

oh, yea! It's plenty strong enough!

Here's mine. It's a Warn. Look closely and you'll see that I used some stiff wire to wrap the screw in place like the racers do with safety wire. This keeps the screw from backing out. You don't want to over tighten this bolt (I put grease on mine before installing) because you want it to come off easily when you need it, but you don't want to lose the thing!

Yea, it would be strong enough. It can pull a 5k trailer.

Make sure if you go JC Whitney you get the code off their homepage for free shipping on all orders over $75.
