my free 1-year trial of SiriusXM satellite radio just ran out... i've really enjoyed it, but now i'm wondering if there are any options using the factory-installed radio [430n - RHB] ?
sadly, i'll probably end up renewing SiriusXM... the stations are limited, the interface is clunky, and the cheapest subscription is $10/month. argh.

it seems that SiriusXM is the only game in town. anything else out there?

Wait a few months before renewing...

It NEVER fails - Sirius will want to renew with YOU, and they'll offer x number of free months if you renew for a year etc.

Having said that... Sirius rocks.

I got a ton of offers from Sirius after mine ended. I never used it when I had it and there was no way I was going to pay for it again, I don't even listen to regular radio.

True Story, on my mother's KIA, she had it, and insisted on continuing the subscription, they give everything away, complain that it is too expensive, they'll probably lower the rate a bit.

I have had Sirius for 5 years and I have it in both my vehicles and my moms. I also have the internet subscriptions and the app on my phone and iPod.

Your stereo has an AUX port in it.(I have the same one) If you have a smart phone with a data plan, just plug it into your stereo and listen to Pandora or Slacker. Its free. :)

That's what I do.

Except if you don't have good service you get drop out, if the phone rings you have to refresh the app to get the music back, it will kill your battery unless you leave it on the charger all the time, you don't get stations like Howard Stern, ESPN and others ... Not trying to take anything away from Pandora or Slacker

well, i finally caved and re-subscribed to SiriusXM...
it really is a nice service [although, i wish they would have Apple re-do their interface!]...
it's just a shame that the factory-installed unit can only do one thing.

What do you mean "only do one thing"?
What year is your Liberty?

2011.
"only one thing" meaning there is really only 1 satellite-radio option out there.

There is only one but it has everything LOL ... Don't really see a need for another.

There are those who would disagree with you, which is why it would be nice to have options. ;)

I was planning to let my subscription lapse this year because I've found I just don't use it that much (pretty much only for listening to football games, which half of the time I can get on FM anyway), but for some reason my credit card company let their automatic renewal charge go through even though they had outdated card information. I called them up and they gave me six months for around $50, which is less than the $75 early termination fee they would have charged if I just tried to cancel after the fact, so I'm keeping it through April. Will still cancel it then though, and possibly pick it back up for another six months for football next year. :)

What is SiriusXM missing?
Howard Stern - Check
Oprah Winfrey - Check
Martha Stewart - Check
Playboy Radio - Check
NFL Football, NCAA Footbal, Hockey, Soccer, NBA, NASCAR, INDY Car, F1, Golf - Check
Music from the 20's to Today - Check
Holiday Music Channels - Check
News Radio - Check
Comedy Radio - Check
Latin and Canadian News, Talk and Music - Check
Children's Music - Check

What else is needed  If you can't find something that sparks your interest in all that and then some then maybe you should just drive around in silence.

Good Music from the 20's to Today - Nope
Good Holiday Music Channels - Nope

;)

That was most of my problem with it. For example, the past two years we've rented cars for a trip to Florida around Christmas time. One had Sirius, one did not. We got better Christmas music over AM/FM in the one without satellite than we did in the one with Sirius, and the aggravation of changing channels wasn't even different because we ended up flipping channels constantly on Sirius too, trying to find a better song. My music tastes (and those of my family, evidently) just do not match those of the people at Sirius who set their lineups, so I do in fact wish there were an alternative. Sadly, now that one company controls the entire satellite radio industry that probably won't happen. :?
