Please help, The Jeep does not start and security light stays on. Tried everything like disconnecting the battery or checking contacts. Checked the starter and it works too. The question: how to disable/reboot the security system? Thank you guys in anticipation.

What does it do?

crank? - could be a battery or air-in-fuel

start for 10 sec or so? - key security

not even click? - check relay's, wires

somewhere in between is a switch on the steering column, and a 'clockspring' - I think they're intermittent.

Check the section in the owner's manual on the Sentry Key Immobilizer System; if it's the Security Alarm Indicator Light that is staying on then there is an electrical fault. If you have a Four Button Transmitter (aka remote entry key) I'd try changing the battery in that key and using it to lock/unlock and start the vehicle. If that doesn't work and the light stays on you need "higher" help than me.

Does the radio turn on with key turned? Is the light a solid on or blinking very fast making look like a solid light?

I say this because I had a Dodge Ram do this to me, Changed out the battery in the key fob and it wouldn't start, nothing would come on: no radio, no clicking, no nothing.

Thought it was the security system, but in the end the battery was drained. I have no idea how or why, but just check battery voltage to be sure.

FYI I spent about an hour trying to mess with the security system before I thought about checking the battery. And it could be related to our Libertys since it is a Chrysler product. :2cents:

I found the problem - my ECU was fried... Good thing it was repaired for only $150. The problem with shudder while stopping stays.
