time to revamp the lift on the liberty, going OME on all 4 corners and new shocks for the front. I sent an email JBA and they told me the hd bilsteins will not work in the front on a 2.5" lift, however I see some people I see run them. Are you using a different kind of shock? This is a bit of a priority since I will be making the purchase in the next couple weeks and $180 for the front shocks sounds a hell of a lot better than $300, especially when I'm going to be buying coilovers for the front hopefully in about a year.

I have Bilsteins on the front of mine and I am running HD OME springs, top plates, clevis rings, JBA upper arms and extended bumpstops. They work just fine, rides and handles like a dream. What's not suppose to work about them I wonder?

The reply I got... ?

It depends on the style of lift.
OME will not work
Skyjacker will not work
A puck lift and clevis lift it will work.

Thanks

I'm running F4-BE5-D916-H0 Bilsteins and they work just fine with ome hd springs.
I wouldn't try compressing the springs into the shocks at home though, that was scary. My spring compressors looked like bananas.

The problem with running the Yellow Bilstiens is if you really wheel your rig, the upper stems break off as they are only tacked on there after the shock is assembled. I have 2 sets in my Collection.

I will dig up a picture and show you where they break you decide if you want to weld there or not. 1 set made it about 3 hours both broke on a rough washboard dirt rode.

that would be helpful if you could, would be better to do it before I install them. The jeep doesn't see real trails anymore, mostly the family beach cruiser. But it does take some occasional high speed trips down the beach.

I've seen your pics along with several others from other folks that have also had them break. I know I have been down plenty of washboard roads and even some very mild off roading, no problems as of yet and will be sure to post up if that happens. Love the Bilsteins so far but would love to give the OME shocks a try or a good excuse to. :JEEPIN:
