What is the best way to gain access to the cigarette lighter wires? Is there a way to do it without having to take the dashboard off? I want to splice some fused interior LED lights into the cigarette lighter.

That dash panel pulls off in like two seconds. It literally just pulls off toward you. Start at the top and release the silver colored strips as you pull back. There are about 8 tabs that release when pulled on.

No tools needed to pry it loose? The plastic just seems so brittle, I don't want to break anything by using too much force.

Just use your fingers. It'll come off.

Be careful, one of the top tabs on mine snapped off and now the left side sticks up a little bit. It's not enough to make me want to buy a new one and I am probably the only one who notices it, but it still ticks me off when I look at it.
