The black plastic had to be in the lines from the factory. It was thick ABS plastic and there was a lot. Besides,the inside of the Mr Gasket pump is white.

Since I sealed up the threads around the little filter, I haven't had any squealing and no more air in the fuel head. I think this pump is going to last just fine.
