My CRD has 77k miles and the transmission lines are leaking like a sieve under the radiator. I hear there is a Technical Service Bulletin addressing this problem. Doe anyone know what the bulletin number is and what it consists of? How much can I expect to pay to have it done?

wow..never heard of this before.
I wouldn't think there is a TSB..

did they rust through??

any tranny shop should be able to make new ones..

I replaced some leaking lines in my bus with PEX pipe..yes a temporary solution..but these lines are not high pressure lines.

when my CRD went in for service in october, the mechanic removed the lines.... did whatever to the connections near the radiator re-attached them and now I am leak free. Cost was zero since he was doing work in there anyway.

Don't ask me what the cause was becasuse I didn't ask, it was the least of my worries, all he said was that he detached them, cleaned the connections and reattached them.

Just had leaking trans lines replaced when in for alternator decoupler repair. However, because it was covered by the ESP, there was no charge, so I cannot tell you what it may cost out of pocket.

Yes the lines rusted under the cooler. There is a piece of rubber over the lines, perhaps to protect them, and they rusted where the rubber meets the tube... My mechanic says there was a Technical Service Bulletin for line replacement, two filters get replaced and the entire system gets flushed as well... Towing, diag and work, $950...
It all started when I drove to the end of the driveway and went to pull out and it would not move. Neither forward or backwards. Transmission fluid was bubbly. Bad sign, sucking air somewhere. I knew the lines were leaking, but had not got to it yet.
Hope that takes care of it.

Now that my Liberty is home, I have an actual copy of the service bulletin. It's number 21-007-06, group "transmission" and dated April 07, 2006. It supersedes SB 21-016-05, dated September 01, 2005.
Bottom line, the Jeep is running fine again. I guess it has been getting progressively worse, because wow is it responsive now!
Cost was $782.

Did the dealer update the ECU with the latest software update?

That would be a big NO. It did not go to a dealer, rather a new found auto repair shop that does diesels too. I was quite pleased with their work. Anyone in southern Maine looking for a good shop, drop me a pm.
