I met another CRD today, owned by a sweet older woman who was ecstatic to see another one as well.

She talked a mile a minute with a French accent.... I could hardly understand what she was saying about the AMOUR for the jeep she had and after she was all done speaking she kissed my cheeks...... wee wee poo poo.

She then said that she loved her CRD so much that she would like to be buried in it when she dies...... Exact words.

Her jeep sounded smoother than mine..... it sounded like a gasser almost, so I asked to see under the hood to make sure it was a diesel. It sure was an I couldn't believe it.

Why was her engine not rattling like mine or like others I've heard, I left with envi.

Anyone else experience a non rattling CRD or smoother sounding CRD.

The diesel rattle is largely the result of low cetane fuel. There are a very few places where you can get 50+ cetane which helps a lot. Perhaps she knows of such a place . . . if you run into her again, you should ask where she gets the good stuff.

Biodiesel has a very high effective cetane, but running a high concentration of Power Service will also boost the cetane numbers. The real problem is the absolute CRAP the oil companies try to pass off as diesel fuel. Cetane numbers AVERAGE 40, if they even post it on the pump... But you can always tell when you get the less-than-40 slime. It is SO noisy you wouldn't believe it.

I run b100 all day everyday and my crd is not very quiet. It could be bad motor mounts. This is just a feeling though.

Yes... she was stock. She said that she had her intake cleaned 3 times. With 78,000 miles on the speedo. I gave her my card told her about LOSTKJS and showed her my elephant hose modification.

:ROTFL: I know it doesn't sound right but what the heck, it happened just like that.

If she didn't have EGR disabled it will be really quiet at idle.
