Greetings from Sydney , New South Wales, in the land of Oz!
I am so glad I found this site. I am a Yank Expat been living in Australia for 8 years now. I have always wanted a Jeep and now I have one 10,000 miles away from a decent Mopar parts store! Luckily in this day and age everything is available over the internets and can be shipped abroad. If you have been to Sydney then you will know this that everything cost 20 times more then anything else from overseas! If you were to take your KJ into the Jeep dealership here and have them do a 30K service you would be looking at close to 2000.00 all up depending on what parts they wanted to make you pay for! So having a American made vehicle here in Oz you have to DIY or be taken to the cleaners! Luckily Jeep/Chrysler is the most recognized American import in Australia. Ford and Chevy ( Holden ) are all made local. Just a little back story I am originally from Anchorage, Alaska. After 9/11 I lost my job with an airline near Chicago and I moved overseas. I am a Jet mechanic working for United Airlines on 747 aircraft at Sydney International. That being said working on my CRD I get blacker then I ever have working on the Pratt and Whitney PW4000-94 engines on the 747! Luckily we have SAM's noob guide to get me through it all! Just wanted to say "Good day eh!" and thank you guys for this valuable resource! Believe me I will be asking heaps of questions in the coming months and years! :pepper:

ps- yep only had the Jeep 3 weeks and first window regulator went out! New metal repair plates are going in today!

Howdy - Welcome to LOST
we do have an active section in Oz
they have neat stuff and a lot of trails down there - check out Fraiser island

Kap moved from Colorado to Alice Springs - which if I read the map correctly - isn't close to anything - except rocks - or maybe more rocks.....

Oh yeah I love Fraser Island! I did that ( in a Land Cruiser unfortunately ) years ago! It is amazing! If you do come down its a must do but its nicer with a rental as it would be very hard on you own Jeep! The lakes are the cleanest water I have ever seen and the beach is amazing but yes "Shark filled" ! Yep that's Oz always a double edged sword. Something is always out there that wants to bite, eat, or maim you!
Thanks for the replay!
Cheers
Nick
