I have a 2003 Jeep Liberty and the "Part Time" light has remained on after I put it back into 2 Wheel High. From other posts I have noticed that it may be a problem with the transfer case position sensor. The remaining question I have, is when I do place the vehicle back into Four Wheel High the Part Time light turns off. Any explanation for this? Please help!

I know on 02's it's all mechanical when it comes to the 4wd... All that sensor does is light up the indicator on the dash board... Nothing else... On later models like my friends 07, I think it actually changes torque values through the computer. So you might be fine if you don't mind the sporadic light on the dash!

that sensor is just misreading it. my wifes KJ has had this issue off and on for a while now. no issues in performance. as long as you know when you are actually in and not in 4WD.

Haha, I agree.

Ravens, welcome to the LOST!

The search button works really well, lol. (Or posting in the thread from two days ago, lol.)

Anywayyyyyyy, it is just a switch for the light, you should be fine if you choose not to fix it.

Got it backwards............

For '02's when shifting into 4low it changes the timing and fuel for more low end HP and Torque not given to newer models. For all years when shifting into 4low it lowers the threshold for ESP,ABS,and the airbags.

Though it's only for 4low,not 4hi or full time 4wd.
