I have been kinda absent for a few months. When I left, there were several topics regarding people doing quasi-scientific studies of acetone in their KJ's. For some reason, I cannot get the search to work ( it is partially covered with other letters and will not come "up'). What was the final word on this? Anyone?

here is a link to the thread in the milage forum. Seems some people are getting decent results; i tried it for a tank or two and saw no change. Maybe it was because I only had 10k miles at the time and after each oil change used a fuel additive.

I've been putting in 3oz of acetone per full tank for the past couple of months and here's what I can tell you: I notice more power in the low end so I don't need to drive with as heavy a foot in around-town traffic. I also notice a significantly smoother idle. I've picked up about 40 miles a tank. The real test was a couple of weeks ago I had forgotten to put the acetone back in the buggy after a cleaning out of the interior and so had to fill up with out the acetone. I was actually prepared for a wakeup call. I thought maybe I had been imagining the gains because I wanted the gains. Nope! I didn't notice immediate changes in the way she idled but I did get almost 40 fewer miles out of that tank of gas.

My results are very similar to Seth's- I am using 2.5 to 3 oz per tank also..

I think i am going to try the acetone tomorrow when I fill up. Ive been waiting and doing a lot of reading on the subject. The more I read I notice that 75% of people say its ok (irregardless of if it works or not) for the fuel system and 25% say its a no no. I think the 25% of people are speaking theory and they also never seem to take into account the dillusion factor.....
Who knows, im sick of waiting, Im ready for some action.

I don't think it really matters as long as it is straight acetone. I'd suggest going to the paint aisle at Lowes or Home Depot if you want to buy some.

Um, don't you mean 'ready for some acetone'?
