You can get one from just about any auto parts store but i would suggest doing some research and find one with the best features and user friendly set up. I have used quite a lot different types but all of them were factory installed and some were great otherstook alot of fine tuning to get to work well. I would suggest one with a lot of adjustability so that you could tune it to the brakes on the trailer. Since i know i have towed trailers with electric, Hydralic, Drum, Disc brakes and the electric disc would about rip the teeth out of your head if adjusted wrong.

Camping World sells and installs them. http://CampingWorld.com, stores all over the country.

You might want to check into http://www.rv.net/forum/ for a wealth of info about RVing.

Sorry to hyjack your thread but I want to hook up my Tekonsha P3 in my KJ but I couldn't find a plug n play harness for it. So I need to know where to hook up the harness that came with the controller, anybody done this? Which wires do I need to splice into?

I installed the MOPAR factory harness with the Tekonsha... Use this thread, it helped me a lot!

Ok picked up p2 controller now I need to install in morning. I read under drivers side dash area there is white cover with signal brake wire in blue. Is there no other bare wires for 12volt,ground or white and tan brake pedal signal. Do I just T wire into other 3 or will I need to get power from battery into automatic circuit breaker or fuse through the firewall to white wire on controller harness. Have not put my head under there to take look. Hoping I can make this easy as pie grab tools get working. Also if I do need pull wire through firewall what is best location. Anyone know which wire powers trailer constant? My airstream has built in AC to DC but will also charge deep cycle at 2amp while driving around. Is this just always hot on 7pin harness.

I put a Tekonsha in mine... its been long enough that I can't remember everything, but I do know that i had to run a power wire (black) out to the battery with a self-resetting fuse mounted close to the battery.

The blue hooks to the wire under the kick panel and I put the red directly into the brake switch with a new push in connector (its the same ones used to add the cummins fuel pump). White is your ground.

Hardest part for me was finding a place to mount it. I ended up putting it in the coin tray thingy in front of the shifter and its worked out great.

Do you have picture of tekonsah p2 installed did wires have enough play. Doing my research the Comander Jeep does have harness to plug and play from Mopar same as Dodge durango $35. From information I gathered on our 2005 Crd the wire under white plastic cover is red with labeling and that connects to blueon controller, white and brown wire(red) is coming off brake pedal, black is 12volt and goes to battery, white is ground and I am thinking just running that to battery negative. I have no way of soldiering hope just taping wires is ok.

nissan.

Does your CRD have a factory installed EVIC? If so it's most likely the brake wire is already there by the driver's left foot otherwise it will not be there.:SOMBRERO:
Before you ask what the EVIC has to do with a trailer brake wire it's simple, they are part of the same harness :ROTFL:
Besides brakes your going to need the 7 pin round "RV" type plug that has a charge wire for your trailer brakes too.
Get the MOPAR harness from the dealer and in the rear it's a plug and play from the right rear quarter panel to the 7 pin on the hitch and it includes relays that operate the trailer lights and chargethe trailer battery.
Now if you don't have an EVIC you'll need the "supplemental" cable too that besides the brake wire it has a power wire to operate the relays and charge your trailer battery. It runs from the right rear quarter panel to under the dash and onto the battery.
Hooking into the brake light switch and power for your brake controler is not plug-n-play :dizzy:
