Does anyone know (or had experience) how to ship large parts, specifically a Liberty door? I'm not sure what direction to really go, but am almost certain that freight would be too expensive.

Thanks...

I am a contractor (driver) for FedEx ground. I dont think it would be too big to ship, but it may be expensive. if you do ship FedEx or UPS, MAKE SURE YOU PACK IT WELL!!! I have seen too many parts damaged and destroyed due to poor packaging. Wrap it in bubble wrap, styro foam, use peanuts, and double box it if you have too and wrap extra cardboard around the door corners especially. Good luck.
Oh by the way, did I mention pack it really really good.

P.S. get the insurance so when it does get damaged its full value is covered.

 I sent a big car door from a 2-door Ford by Greyhound once. It went about 500 miles and arrived in top shape the next day. Can't remember what it cost, but it seemed reasonable at the time. I made sure to wrap it up in cardboard first though. Good luck. :)

OUCH!! No seriously, I delivered a Wilderness rack, to myself, that I bought off this site from another member. I must say the service was terrific and the packages were in perfect shape :P

fresh out of high school i worked in the packing and shipping dept. for a major industrial scale comp.
we would ship out fairly fragile equipment all the time and would use a motor freight company (big trucks 18wheelers) like fedex freight if you build a wooden crate and fill it with stuff like shreded paper and foam stuff it can go clear across the country with little or no problems just make sure that the company you chose goes from city to city with out using another carrier and that they use their trailers the whole trip that way it only goes on and off the trailer once
