Bought a liberty CRD about 1 month ago. Drove home from Denver, noticed what i thought was a slight wheel bearing noise from driver front. Noise Progressively got worse for about 3 weeks, until I eventually dug in and replaced the front drivers side Hub/bearing assembly. I could barely feel a slight roughness in the old bearing hub assembly, so little that I was not sure it was even bad. I replaced it anyway, to eliminate it as a source of the noise. The new hub/bearing assembly did not cure the noise, and it has continued to get worse, so much so that now you can hear it under load at highway speed. The noise does not change regardless of loading one or the other front wheels by turning, it is the same whether coasting in neutral, or under power, or in gear coasting. Owning my own auto repair business, I've replaced literally hundreds of front wheel bearings so I'm near certain the noise is bearing related. Being that it does not change whether I load one front wheel or the other, I'm now leaning towards the noise coming from the front differential. Possibly a side bearing or front pinion bearing. Just wondering a couple of things. Anyone had a noise from the front like this before, does the gas version of the Liberty have the same front Diff, or could it possibly be the passenger front bearing and just transferring the noise so it sounds like it is from the drivers front area. I have thought about removing both front CV shafts to stop the front diff from spinning, and then take if for a little drive as this would certainly tell me if it were a wheel bearing or something in the front diff, but didn't want to go to that work if someone had some experience and might know of the problem. Also thought about removing front driveshaft from the transfer case and front Diff, but the front diff would still turn. Any thoughts or ideas
