It looks like all of the OEM TB pulleys are backordered until at least march 28th. I thought there was a thread recently that showed an alternative supplier to OEM for the pulleys, does anyone remember that thread or have any other ideas?

Sam - I think the thread you are remembering is the one about alternatives for the serp belt idlers (NAPA 36101) although if you had the dimensions on the TB idlers I'll bet there is an alternative source. If you are in urgent need I think I have a pair for the cost of shipping plus replacement as soon as OEM ones get off back order. If that would help email me as I'll need to make sure another party doesn't need what I have sooner.

I also found out the factory parts are on back order, I have ordered Crown Idlers and tensioner from ID Parts, I will have it tomorrow and will take some pictures and compare it to the OEM parts removed I expect they will be a good less costly alternative to the OEM parts.

I have the bad water pump review of Crown Products, Unfortunately I am sitting with timing belt off and expected to have the parts last week, Thanks to the dealer for checking availability before giving me an expected date... But this will give me a good chance to see how the Crown products match up.

I replaced the tensioner and idlers with Crown parts from ID Parts, they had a Thursday deal on next day air shipping and very good prices 2 Idlers, and tensioner with next day was $150.00. I promised pics but camera battery was dead I apologize. Tensioner had NTN bearing. The Idlers did not, that worries me a little. I used the Gates Belt. Everything went well, I took a little time to get the crank pulley and the fuel pump to work. I have herd to rotate the crank slightly but with the 6mm hex key it wouldn't budge even slightly, I continued to work and when you get it you will know. The belt should be tout when you have the belt on correctly. Other observation was my fuel pump was not directly on the timing mark when removed, it was about 1/8" away. It was simply not possible to get that mark right on. So I put it exactly where it was when the original belt was removed.

remember with enough patience and perseverance you can piss a hole in a pebble!

Good Luck all I believe given the opportunity I would use Crown again but only time will tell on longevity.

Glad to hear everything got there in time.

I spoke with Crown about their manufacturing policies and purchasing policies and I was impressed - they are very hands-on with their products, they aren't just buying stuff out of some random factory. I made recommendations to them based on my own experience and the experience on this board about future manufacturing - NTN/INA bearings, Litens tensioners, Gates belts etc.

cevans, your posts were the deciding factor whether I would use Crown I had all but decided against it. Thanks for the recommendation. Do you know which bearing they are using in the Idlers? That was my only concern after receiving the parts. The idler bearings did not have a name on them like the tensioner?
