I got a shop to instlal 4.56 gears in the front an rear of my KK alone with ARB lockers for both the front and rear. The issue I am having is a weird noise that doesnt really sound like a normal gear noise. no clunks or clanks, i have a slight "whine" but at 4.56 i kinda expected a slight one. the real issue i have is a "thud" noise... it's pretty faint ( pretty tough to hear with my super44 exhaust too) but it's definitely there and it wasnt before. I had the shop that installed it open it up and peak around , and even they said the noise wasnt quite right but they it should be okay to drive. i have been taking it easy and I have almost 600 miles on the gears which means it's time to open the diff and check the fluids and the markings. when they first released the truck to me the noise was terrible very loud. i even called superior and had them check the gear markings. turns out the company that installed used the stock shim ( which your not supposed to). After fixing the shim the noise is better but still there. I am no gear expert BUT the noise seems to "thud" more times then my wheels spin which makes me think that it's still pinion related. as mentioned the thud sound is a very low, it increases with speed and decreases with speed as well. I just want to get my truck fixed as it's my daily driver and it's been in and out of the shop and no used for over a month and it's still not right. You may suggest bring it to another shop, but I really dont have the money to lay out to another shop to fix the problem, and the shop i brought it to was highly recommended and praised by several people I know you have personally got work done ( gears) by them and by several mechanic shops who are local to me ( i love like 30 minutes from the shop that did my gears) and even they said they were great. The company has been working with me but they are always booked up and stupidly i paid them the first time I took my truck. If any one has any suggestion on what it could be please let me know. I am having them go over everything again the next time it goes out there cause this NEEDS to be fixed.

Not a gear expert, but it could be the backlash is set too loose. It shouldn't obviously whine and it shouldn't clunk/thunk and you shouldn't accept that. Also, did they replace all of the bearings?

Take it to a higher level, company owner or General Manager. Also, put your concerns in writing and send certified mail so you have a written paper trail along with a receipt that they received it.
