Well my CRD is totaled, a strap from a semi tractor trailer that was holding a heavy 41' roll of cargo tarp let go, dropping it onto the pavement in rush hour traffic.

It caused front end damage to 4 cars and totaled mine.

I hit the tarp first before the others and it sent the CRD flying in the air for about 15 feet landing hard on two wheels, I managed to get it back on all four but it wasn't enough to stop the momentum. I continued to spin around on the pavement 4 times, finally coming to a hard stop when i hit the center divider head on.

All the lanes on I95 were packed with rush hour traffic all traveling at approx. 65mph and by the grace of God I didn't hurt anyone or cause damage to another vehicle.

The state trooper said the truck carrying the tarp was long gone and could not be located.

I am happy to be alive with only a fractured right wrist, skin burns on my left, brusing I will be feeling tomorrow and a really bad sore knee.

And so the saga ends.

I'm just glad that you're okay!! The Jeep can be replaced, but you can't be.

So Glad you're ok for the most part, sorry to hear about you getting hurt. :( Wrist recovery can be hard, I had surgery on mine due to over usage working on cars. I still havn't recovered from it and it has pain frequently and I can;t do alot of wrenching anymore without quite a bit of pain. I pray to God for the best recovery for you and really hope they find the company liable for the shipping of the tarp and hold accountable for the damages.

I know its sad to see the Jeep go, but its just a vehicle. The important thing is you're ok, you are not replaceable like it.

All said and done, do you expect to find yourself another CRD Liberty or move in another direction?

Just curious,

- Mark

Man, what a chain of events! Glad that you are going to be okay. Our CRDs are a tough lot. You may not have fared as well in a lesser vehicle.

I find it very interesting that the trucker was not/did not stop. He'll have some explaining to do on the other end when part of his load cannot be accounted for.

Anyways, get well soon.

All the Best,

Hoosier CRD

Glad to hear that you are alright overall. With a 41' object it could have ended a lot worse, for you and others. Hope the wrist heals and the therapy isn't too bad.
My best wishes for a speedy recovery, and a limited amount of pain and discomfort today.

Glad you are more or less ok. We'd all be interested in what vehicle you'd choose to replace the CRD.

I want to add in my best wishes as well for a clean recovery.

And hopefully your insurance company will return you a fair value for your loss.
BTW, the khaki green '06s are a great choice for a replacement (not that I want to sell mine :jester: ).

Holy crap dude, glad you are OK.

Do what you have to, to heal up, that is the important thing.

Secondary is your CRD and replacing it, pictures of the carnage, etc. All that can wait.
