Glad to hear you (and others) sustained no serious injuries. Hope the wrist rehab goes okay.

Secondary, of course is if you're going to salvage the drive train out of the CRD and put it in a wrangler :)

Glad you are OK.

I-95 from Boston to Richmond is a tough road to survive a wreck.

Glad to hear you walked away with no major injuries and hope you get better soon. Sorry to hear your CRD is toast I know you put a lot of work in it.

I am interested to see what you replace it with. There is a nice red one for sale on here in Sunbury PA about an hour up the road from me.

The Jeep did it's final job and you are still around to talk about it. I wish you well.

Sorry to hear about the loss of your pride and joy. I know how it feels but heal up and when you are ready, start over and rebuild it. Glad you are ok and get the medical attention that you need. There will always be another Diesel KJ out there that needs an owner that is willing to take care and pamper it.

I know how you feel losing your KJ CRD. :furious: I totaled mine on Dec 21. :dead: Rolled it 4 x. By the Grace of God no one was seriously hurt in either accident. You will be sore for a while, but the good news is there are more out there for sale. I bought another one within a month.

Wishing a speedy recovery,

Doug

Gah! After all the work you've put into this Jeep!

Nice driving keeping it upright after flying through the air. Hope you heal quickly!

It caused front end damage to 4 cars and totaled mine.

I hit the tarp first before the others and it sent the CRD flying in the air for about 15 feet landing hard on two wheels, I managed to get it back on all four but it wasn't enough to stop the momentum. I continued to spin around on the pavement 4 times, finally coming to a hard stop when i hit the center divider head on.

All the lanes on I95 were packed with rush hour traffic all traveling at approx. 65mph and by the grace of God I didn't hurt anyone or cause damage to another vehicle.

The state trooper said the truck carrying the tarp was long gone and could not be located.

I am happy to be alive with only a fractured right wrist, skin burns on my left, brusing I will be feeling tomorrow and a really bad sore knee.

And so the saga ends.

Racertracer

NOOOOOOOO! You must find another CRD and get back here. I'm glad that you're ok, and I can only guess how it feels after all the work to the Jeep. Get another CRD. My four year old son loves your avatar picture and he has for years.

Are there traffic cameras that would show a truck driving by with a big empty spot where a tarp should be? Go get them. Recover well and go get them. Then get back here.

Glad you're okay! - what are you going to do with the wrecked CRD? are there any salvageable parts?
I'm thinking injectors, glow plugs, head, other stuff...

Thank you all for your well wishes, I am truly humbled.

i am healing well and I never thought that I would have experienced more pain after the accident than when the accident first happened. It's debilitating and now sympathize with crash survivors that complain of aches and pain weeks after an accident.

I didn't take pictures, I didn't have time and my belongings are with me so I have no reason to go see the carnage except to snap a few shots and possibly remove some important parts like the Hot Tuned ECM, PreF37 TCM and the P1 Battery.

As for a replacement CRD, all I can say is that I am seriously considering the option and have begun looking. I do like the red one that is posted on the board.

I am just waiting for my insurance to settle with me first.

I want to add that I was very lucky: Besides being able to walk away from it, It helped that the next closest vehicle behind me was a volunteer ambulance returning to its home base from the hospital. It moved into a protective position preventing rush hour traffic from hitting me.
The cabin held up well, the damage was mostly to the front end. The oil pan cracked open, it was a pretty good hit.
The little beast saved me.

Are you considering doing a buyback at all? If not for yourself than for someone else wanting an engine?

Sam, if the oil pan was ruptured, do you think the engine would still be salvageable?
