I'm back again - was gone so long I had to re-register! Anyway I have a question for those of you with a few miles on your KJs. My 2003 Renegade with auto trans is sitting at about 94k miles on the clock. At about 45k I installed the All J Products lift kit, 31" BFG AT Tires, Detroit True Trac locker in the front, Powertrax no slip in the rear. I noticed every now and then a bang coming from the rear when I would let off and press the gas. Somebody on the forum said this was no big deal. Well now that I have a few more miles of asphault, dirt, and sand under my belt it seams the banging is getting louder and more frequent. I was out wheelin in the sand at the Outer Banks of NC yesterday and noticed on the way home each time the trans kicked hard out of overdrive it felt and sounded like a car hit me in the rear. Also noticing a metalic rubbing or squeaking sound at the same time coming from the rear - almost like something broke in the suspension.

So you guys that have been running lockers for a while, what sort of reliability are you getting? Anybody see any serious issues with trans or lockers? Thanks....

Check the (ball joint) that is on top of your rear axle. Where the third link hooks to the differential. It could bang like that when the axle tries to rotate during acceleration or engine braking.
