You can also try a VW dealership or mechanic, as many of them service all brands and are at least familiar with diesels.

Neilson DCJ in East Hanover has two certified diesel techs that do fantastic work on my dealers Sprinters and Tow rigs. I worked in the same company with them until they were sold to Neilson and had a talk with them about purchasing a Liberty crd before I purchased and was quoted 1200 with parts for tb wp 100k service.

I had mine done by Newark Jeep, in Newark, DE. I took them the parts (all pullies, water pump, etc.) and they charged me labor (~$600 if I recall correctly). I was satisfied.

irunmiles,

This is great to hear the Newark Jeep was able to take care of it. I am assuming you had one of their diesel techs do the job. Do you know a name? I actually live right in Newark and this would be a great place to have it done if you think their quality of work is ok.

I have done some calling around to some of the shops on the "trusted CRD mechanics" list and many of them do not get back to me. The one in Annapolis sounded promising, but fails to return my calls. I talked to Brandywine Chrysler Jeep in Smyrna DE last summer and they would do the job. I also talked to I.G. Burton in Milford and the service writer said that she thought the Diesel Mechanic there had done the job before.

Shadow63, you'll have to let us know who you decide to go with. Thanks for starting this thread. I'm 4k miles away from the change and just want my CRD to come back to me with the same rockers.

Here's the detail on Newark Jeep - the service writer was a lady named Robin and when I complained about their parts mark-up she suggested that I supply the parts. That's when I created the sticky parts list for this forum. I had them complete all the pully and tentioner replacements, water pump, thermostat, and belt in Nov 2009. They charged $615 for 6.2 hours labor. Done by tech #233. They returned all the old parts and did a good job.

Excellent! Glad to hear you had better luck finding a place than I did. I will definitely keep this in mind. Did they give you a quote on the labor price?

That is fantastic! Someone that really knows the job and very reasonably priced. I believe I will be riding up to NJ in a couple thousand miles. I also have friend that is close to TB/WP time, so he may use him as well. This would be great to have a go-to guy for this job. I'm assuming he has the miller tools?

Thanks again Shadow! You'll have to let us know how your TB job goes.

He has not done a TB job for me in the past, the tech's name is Seth and he has a couple Liberty diesel TB/WP jobs under his belt. I ordered my parts from Cory at IDParts.com. GDE eco tune f/t to follow

Hey Shadow63,

Just wanted to follow up and see if you went to the shop that did your exhaust work and had your TB/WP job done. I think want to get mine done before summer is here. Just looking to see if you had a good experience.

Thanks
