Hi All

So, just got my jeep back from a friend who borrowed it for a week and I noticed a scraping sound when braking from the front right. Sure enough I checked and it looks like I have no pad left and I think it's grinding on the rotor. :( I checked my rear brakes and they look like they have less than 20% left. I want to order parts right away. If the pad is worn down and has contacted the rotor does that mean I'll definitely need new rotors? Does anybody know the parts numbers for a 2005 CRD. Also, is there no indicator light in the crd for brakes? It seems odd that there would be no warning before the rotor gets screwed.

thanks!

Be interesting to hear what the consensus is on sourcing this part.

I just make a trip down to the local Cost-Less Auto (local discount) and get rotor/caliper/pads there. They're inexpensive and for all the rigs I've had over the past years they've never given me grief. Typical cost is $30-ish each.. slightly less for the rotor, slightly more for the caliper.

For the pads I tell them to get as close to factory composition and quality as they have - it's usually nether the cheapest nor the most expensive.

Getting super-duper long-lasting never fade types of pads just accelerate wear on the rotors instead, and make more noise.

If you're driving habits are normal and you don't tow - this'll do ya proud.

Mark

I ended up going to the stealership and just picking up stock brake pads. They were $70 a pop. My rotors were fine.

Since I was there I asked for a price on a new serp belt, as I've noticed a few small cracks in mine. They want $150!
