I believe the new Dodge Dart is based on the FIAT.....well.....um.....Viaggio.....which as we all know in Italian means........... :oops:

I apologize its seems i got the pedigree wrong, the Dart and the Viaggio (I cant even say it without giggling) are based on the Alfa Romeo Giulietta. This of course makes its build quality top notch

Oh and the dart and Viaggio are a joint venture with a Chinese car manufacture, having it being build in the new mother land.

I would buy one if it comes with a ready supply of fortune cookies in the glove box

The Dart will be built in Belvidere, Illinois; the cost for upgrading the plant, including adding new machinery and tooling, was $600 million. There will be no 2012 Dodge Dart (or Dodge Dart 2012 if you prefer) — production starts in 2012, but the car officially starts with the new Dodge Dart 2013.

Not sure on the contents of the glove box :wink:

Not really. The Giulietta was used as a starting point for the Dart. Chrysler reengineered it and now they have the Dart. The Viaggio is mostly a rebadge to be built in China. Different front and rear fascias is the only difference. The platforms for the Giulietta and Dart (which are just a set of dimensions, nothing to do with parts or even the floorpan) are similar but not shared.

Glad to hear that the plant in Ill. is getting retooled. Every time I drive past it to go up to Minnesota it looks like a ghost town. I was not sure if they were still building the compass and patriot there.

And Tom I will try to make it if the car is working. Starting to see the onset signs of throw out bearing problems, which means in my case lowering the subframe and completely taking out the tranny. New clutch kit since, well its already open and anything else that may need replaced. Who knew the kind of trouble I would get into Auto-crossing this car

Now that I look at that picture, I could have just gunned it and got out of there without rolling, which as you guys know, was my fear. It looked and felt worse than that while wheeling though.

When you are tilted over like that it feels ( from the drivers seat) that if a bird would fly over and crap on your Jeep it would be enough to make it roll on over.
Ask Sean sometime about when we were wheeling down in Kentucky and he could stick his arm out the window and touch the ground :ROTFL:

I kept telling him to keep going and he kept asking are you sure ???
