I also bought a welder a couple of months back; just a used Hobart 130 Handler. It can be used as a flux core, or with shielding gas for MIG. I have a regulator to use it as a MIG, but still have to get a cylinder of gas. So far I've "burned" together a lot of scrap for practice; as well as fixed a broken hand-truck, a broken garden bench thing for my mom, and made a highway bar foot peg mount for a friend's Harley. My first KJ welding project will more than likely be a homemade upgraded transmission skid via someone else's post on here quite some time back. My brother has two WJ's; one that runs at his place, and one that does not, here at my place. The WJ that does not run doesn't have the front or rear bumper caps on it. Just for practice I may try my hand at some homemade rock sliders and possibly bumpers for that. It they turn out good I'll call my brother and tell him to bring his truck over, I made him some stuff for his WJ. Hopefully that will give me enough practice to feel confident in my ability to make a rear bumper for my KJ!!
