Most likey yes you do have the 8.25 in the rear. You should also change your front.

Hey jeepkj02, I'd say put 75W140 all around. My 2002 owner's manual says that for heay duty use, or towing, 75W140 is recommended for the rear diff too. I would not recommend putting the 75W90 in the front, but only because it doesn't say you should. I am sure others have, and I have not ready any horror stories yet about the wrong viscosity gear oil destroying anything, so you'll probably be fine. Where are you going to buy it? I have not see gallon containers of 75W90 synthetic or 75W140 synthetic for sale at any of the autoparts stores. It would probably be easier to just get four 1 quart bottles, since they are easier to maneuver for squirting the oil through the fill holes.

I used the black RTV last time that says "maximum oil resistance."

I planned on buying 4 (1 qt) bottles of oil. I dont tow at all, is it still okay to put 75w140 in the rear.

Yes.. You can use the 75w-140 for the rear even if you don't tow.. But also keep in mind that if you have a trac-lok rear Limited Slip to get the Mopar Limited Slip Additive.. I don't have the part# on hand.. If you don't add it, you will hear the nastiest sound coming from your rear diff...

I changed my diff oil yesterday, I put in, 75w90 all around.... I could not find 75w-140 anywhere in my area..

Scraping off the rear diff RTV was a pain... i just used a puddy knife, a stainless brush and just kept working at it..
Those gaskets are a nice idea.. no work envolved.. not to mention you don't have the potiential to get everything all gooooey with RTV when you put the diff cover back on

I used red by the way, maximum heat protection.

I'll let you guys know if i have any trouble with 75w90.
