I bought my wife a 2006 jeep liberty diesel. What extended warranty have you had good luck with? My credit union (penfed) recomends route 66, easy street. What have you all found that is good?

I ran a repair shop for 14 1/2 years and to be honest, I hated Extended Warranties.
Many of them have exclusion clauses and bleed the shops so bad that they refuse to take them.
One example is the we don't pay for seals, hoses, gaskets, or fluids.
Your water pump seal fails and trashes your engine, they don't pay.
You blow the head gasket and warp the head, they don't pay.
If a gear set blows up in the trans and the trans grenades, they pay.
If your engine throws a rod without a drop of oil leaking from the engine, they pay.

Also, they will reserve the right to use used parts and components instead of fixing or a rebuilt unit. Sometimes they will or won't pay for concealed damage.

I went through all of this crap when I had a shop only to keep my customers happy, not because it was even a fair deal. I hated telling my customers when the Extended Warranty companies would not cover the work.

1) Ask the shop who will do your work who they like and who they hate. Tell them the Credit Union wants you to buy an Extended Warranty Policy.
2) Read or have a Contract Reader read the policy before you buy it.
3) Ask your Credit Union if they get a commission on the policy sale.
if they do, you may know the motive.

Good luck, hope you took a few Law classes or have a friend/relative who is a contract reader or lawyer, you might need them.

I ended up going with what was offered through my credit union, Route 66. I know, it sounds like a fly by the night type of name, but I asked tons of questions through email, and have all the responses that satisfy me. So, if they decide to deny a claim, I have the emails in writing to back it up.

The only extended warranties worth the paper there printed on are ones from Chrysler directly. The others are junk and rarely ever pay out for any repair and your lucky if there actually still open after 1-2 years.
