Ripple,
I have heard of misdiagnosing an EGR before. Some have changed out the EGR to find it was the anti-shudder valve in the air intake. When that fails (or becomes oil fouled) you get a bad ratio of CAC air relative to EGR gases, supposedly throws the same codes. There is also a sensor inside there that could be oil fouled.

7000 miles EGR replaced

14,000 miles going in on Thursday for the 2ed EGR valve. CEL came on on Fri. Read some past Post and checked the fuel cap. I took it off and put it back on turning untill it clicked 3 times the CEL went out. I had an appointment to have the radio looked at the same day so I asked the Dealership to check the CEL and they said that I needed a EGR valve. So they had to order one said it would come from ATL, Ga. made Appt. for Thurs. They are going to reflash the CPU also.

Thanks, the EGR is catching up to the EGR flow control valve in terms of the number of replacements reported here.
