I get ~14 city and ~22 highway (no lift, stock size A/T tires and keeping my speed under 70). My overall average is a hair over 18 mpg.
There is real-life gas mileage data on KK's here: http://www.fuelly.com/car/jeep/liberty/gas%20v6

11 mpg is not too far off for a petrol rig like yours. My 6 cyl. petrol Land Cruiser gets between 10 - 14 MPG.

I love my Liberty CRD but I can't seem to get any better than 36 MPG no matter what I do; of course, with so much power and torque it is hard to keep my foot out of it. I may have to look into the VW Jetta....

Cheers,

Josh

I've been getting 17 mixed. I normally get 14 city, but recently I've been getting 16. Do about 19 hwy. Best is 22, pure highway with cruse set to 63.

I'm with you: we are not buying another Jeep in the US until they put the CRD back into the lineup. Until then, the KJ stays in our stables.

hey marco i read on another post here that someone was getting bad milage with their 2012 and I also only average about 12-14 city with my 2012. Seems these trucks dont really break in for "good" mpgs until about 5000 miles. I say try road tires allseason or summer tread for lower rolling resistance. That should really help

my jeep is in the shop the belt fell off some how and it may have over heated destroying the engine i really do not know yet but i may look into putting a crd engin to replace the 3.7 if it comes to that

I would actually say more like 10,000 miles before its "broken in". OP, is it possible you have a bad O2 sensor or a corrupt fuel/air ratio setting in the ECU? If it doesn't get better by your next OC, I'd bring it to the stealership and have them run some diagnostics. 11 is really awful, unless you drive with your foot welded to the floor in between stop lights in the urban sprawl. Even then . . .

Theres your problem, take it out and run it good.
Mine never shifts under 3750-4000 RPMs unless I am in stop and go traffic
and I get 20-21 average all the time real easy!
Of course KKs are a strange bird of a different color  :ROTFL:

If the bad mpg's was emission related it would trip the check engine light, anything that makes the emissions go over 1.5 times the allowable limited turns that light on.

Just because one person get's 20mpg's does not mean all others will get 20mpg's.To many factors in actual mpg's like driving style, miles on vehicle, gas quality, elevation, and about 50 other factors.

Tom is correct, gotta "blow the cobwebs out" at least once a week for at least 30-60mins.It really does wonders for overall mpg's.

Have a look here for the engine - may be a great option. I'd love to have the 6 speed manual in mine (5 speed auto only in the US). One of my mates here in Australia has 4 door Wrangler CRD with the 6 speed and he get 36MPG hwy.

At the risk of somebody calling me nuts, if you still have those roof racks on your KK they will take 1-2 mpg off your average, especially at highway speeds. Any additional drag on something shaped like a shoe box is not a good thing. You could try pulling the racks off when you aren't using them. Or at least take the mounts off the racks (snowboard mounts?).
As for tire size, mine came stock with Goodyear wrangler ST's in 225-75-16 for 2009. I have never seen a crappier tire on 4wd. I replaced them with the same size in Dunlop Rovers and get the same mileage. 15.5 city and 19.5 highway (with Yakima racks on the roof). I just did a long road trip in the wife's 2011 Wrangler unlimited (South Carolina to Michigan, then to DC, then back to SC) and driving through Ohio and Pennsylvania we were averaging 22 mpg. That's in a bigger, boxier vehicle with a slightly larger engine, too. I'm guessing that extra gear in the 5spd transmission helped a lot.
I was also at the dealership when I got back and was talking to one of the customer service managers that I know and he told me it was pretty much a done deal that the 3.7L engine was going to be replaced in the Liberty. I told him to make the suggestion that they also put in a 5spd automatic and can the 4spd. Who knows if this will ever happen?

I have the fairing which eliminates that issue.

The fairing only does so much when you are using round bars. It's the vertical mounts for the cross bars as well as the mounts that you put on those bars which causes the issue. I would hazard to guess that the fairing also causes slightly more drag than just the round bars alone. (but the round bars make a LOT of noise) I have the yakima cross bars and fairing as well as a set of thule cross bars with no fairing. I was getting slightly better mpg's with the thule cross bars and no fairing than with the yakima round bars with a fairing. The issue is that I have far more yakima attachments and I don't want to have to buy adapters for thule bars. Once you mount anything on those bars the mpg's drop even further. That was my point. If you have ski mounts they produce a lot of drag with their vertical surface and the fairing does nothing for that. If the salesman that sold it to you said that, then he lied. I used to work at a place that sold yakima bars and the different mounts did negative things to mpg's at highway speeds.
