My odometer stops, when the ABS and BRAKE idiot lights come on. The idiot lights are not on all the time. The idiot lights seem to light up when I hit a pothole or rough part of the road, important word here - seems -
Any ideas CRDers

Sounds like the sensor on the top of the rear diff pumpkin (either the connector or the sensor, actually). It'll make your calculated mileage go in the pooper if you have an EVIC as well. Mine went out for no good reason and was replaced under warranty a couple years back.

On ours the parking brake cable rubbed the wires for the speed sensor on the rear differential, twice. First time the entire harness was replaced, only time we let a dealer work on Eugene, wasn't cheap. Second time we wired in a new pig tail leaving longer leads and added zip ties so the parking brake cable and the wires no longer rub. Second repair has well outlasted the first.

Don't assume the wires are good to the speed sensor on the pumpkin. I had an open wire right where it entered the connector. No break in the insulation or any other indication it was bad.

Spot On gents. The wire loom had rubbed through one wire. No pigtail available from dealer, but was able to repair.
Thanks for the input
