I've found that the crown tensioner is made with a NTN bearing so I wouldn't have any problem running one of them. However, does anyone know who makes the bearings for their idlers?

I think crown distributes Canadian parts we need. I ordered Crown thermo but was sent europe design minus few hoses on top. I am sure they make correct parts now finding right numbers and place to get them. Australia?

You need to PM or email cevans at IDparts. They are supporting CRDs and I know he has been talking to Crown about water pump bearings so I imagine he can answer or get the answer to your question.

I will PM him, but I was asking about the idler pullies, not the water pump. I've been bitten before with china made water pumps on a toyota. Luckily it wasn't a cog design and simply caused the car to overheat. I'd rather just pony up the extra $50 for a OE part when it comes to the water pump.

Yes I noted you were asking about idlers not the WP bearings. My point was he has been in communication with Crown about WP bearing problems so I'm reasonably confident he can ask them about the idler bearings. I don't recall what brand idlers IDparts is stocking but they have been most sensitive to parts quality.

We are currently NOT using the Crown tensioners in our kit. They use nice bearings, but the build quality of the Litens tensioner is worlds better. We import the Litens ones for a few bucks cheaper than you can buy them stateside.

Idlers are...well, Idlers. I haven't ever read or heard of a Crown idler having a problem.

...and I suspect that I can probably buy them from you and have them imported back to Canada for half the price I could buy them locally :(

Any idea who makes the Crown idlers? I heard that the OE ones have an NTN bearing... the Crown ones, at least from the pictures, appear to be of an OE design... but it is hard to tell from the picture. I am not a fan of Crown since all of the water pump failures, one being on a local friends CRD after 1500 miles or so...
