So... Driving the other day... ESP/BAS and Traction Control light come on. Read up a WEE bit on google. Possibly alignment related, not too worried. Couple days and goes away. Couple days and comes back. Hmmm... gotta get that alignment done...

Go to leave work and go home within 30 seconds of driving at 15mph steering wheel starts shaking like the wheel is about to separate from the axle in the front. Severe vibrations and wiggling back and forth.... immediately pull over expecting a wheel to be completely loose or something... nothing is immediately apparent. Pull into the closest lot and jack up the front...

After a bit of inspection, I found that the mount on the rack and pinion for the steering completely severed at the welds and is no longer attached to the frame of the vehicle. Oh crap... that's not good. It's not going anywhere.

Thank God for AAA premium.

Repair shop closed on the weekends... (seems weird to me, but to each business thier own)

Checked it in with them today. Since they are taking apart the front end anyways, might as well have them put in the moog lbjs that i bought when i put in the frankenlift but never installed.

$1400+ for the rack and pinion and labor and new tie rods
$475+ for the lbjs

$1900 with tax for both

Not going to do any of it by myself... Are those LBJs really worth the $475 for install?

The Auto Repair place is extremely reputable and does really good, quality work from what I hear and have seen on friends vehicles.

Well... however long it takes em ÷ $475 i guess + a premium i'd suppose. For what it's worth, they are a really clean look like they know what they are doing shop... I didn't ask rates... at this point, it's either it's worth the $475 or it's not... just looking for the board general consensus as to whether i should do it now or hold on to the LBJs and the money and maybe do someday later.

Well since your having them do LBJ's and install the lift Your getting a good deal. Most places would charge about $300-$400 to install the lift alone and if I remember it's almost 3 hours labor for the LBJ's themselfs and 5.5 hours for the R&P.They are most likely inflating some labor prices to cover doing the lift as there is no crossover labor with the R&P install and very little with the LBJ install.
