I have a 2005 CRD. The overhead display now says "check TPM system" sometimes.

The manual shows that as one of the possible warnings but it doesn't say what TPM is or what to do about it. I know that TPM can mean "Total Productive Maintenance" in industry but not sure here.

Anyone know what this is or what to do?

Thanks

I'm thinking Tire Pressure Monitor - you have sensors for that in your tires?

The Owner's Manual says "See your authorized dealer when this message appears in the EVIC. This message indicates that a system fault condition has been detected." That said if your wheels are fitted with the original Tire Pressure monitors (part of the valve stem assembly) there is a good chance the system is experiencing intermittent communication failure or near failure from one or more of the wheel sensors as their battery life range is about 5-12 years with an average of 7.

Check your tire pressure on all 5 wheels (yes on the EVIC system the spare has a sensor that's "read" but the pressure is not displayed) and if it's okay you can probably ignore the issue unless it stays on most of the time or like everytime you start up.

Be advised tire sending units can be quite pricey but the Dorman 974-001 units only run about $25@ from a host of places including Amazon and seem to work ok. stoutdog got one a while back and it's doing fine. Don't get ripped off on installation which should be on the order of $10-20 per tire. Installation is mark tire postion on rim so rebalance is not needed; pop tire; remove old unit; intall new unit; remount tire.
