Hey guys and gals I'm having the above stated issues.. I recently did the timing belt water pump and have been having the issues since shortly after... I did the fan clutch at that time and the thermostat in march I think.. replaced the rad cap yesterday....

The leak looks like it is coming from around the heater core hose area under the inter cooler tube somewhere.. as far as the over heating.. uphill AC on 95 degrees ambient... when it getshotthe leak shows up other than that no leaks...

Any ideas? Thanks for the help!

Ok here goes:

Coolant deriving from or around the rear of the plastic coolant expansion tank is not a good sign.

After the CRD has been sitting for a while, usually over night, do you notice a coolant pool on the pavement under and around the passenger side of the vehicle?

Do you see coolant sitting in the reservoir side (right side) of the plastic coolant expansion tank?

Racertrack it is where you say but I can see and hear it dripping on the exhaust manifold, and feel wetness on the lower heater core hose... the spray pattern I see is down the from of the coolant bottle, on the front of the inter cooler hose and the front of the air box to Turbo hose.. so I don't tank it is a head gasket..ill do the 10 second test tomorrow morning

Do you see fluid in the reservoir?

Right side of the coolant bottle should have no coolant in it...... none.

There is a weep hole located on the right rear of the coolant bottle.

When excessive pressure builds in the system the radiator cap opens in spurts to release the built up pressure that escapes through the weep hole, spraying coolant all over the fire wall and engine parts, including the heater hoses, turbo and turbo hoses and exhaust manifold.

You can't see the weep hole or feel for it unless the bottle is removed.

This is what I experienced and I wouldn't want it to happen to anyone.

I've never seen any coolant in that side of the coolant bottle ever...

the spray is on only the front side of the turbo hoses and coolant bottle... the bottle has like an upside down v pattern from the cap... I have yet to do the 30 second test today...

but I have seen it dripping from the lower heater core hose to the exhaust manifold bolt right below where the bracket for the heater hoses are bolted to the engine...

this is my new theory... like an stupid I didn't replace the factory hose clamps with screw clamps and they are failing somewhere in that area... I had new clamps I just thought I would be good not to replace them... if one of those are weak in that area, I think it would cause the pattern I am seeing.

Not a DCJ issue but a universal issue - those spring clamps come in various tension ratings so 1) if you mix clamps you may install the wrong ratings on various locations and 2) they do lose their "spring" over time and with reuse so they can fail. Not to mention that hose fittings usually have a bulge just at the open end of the fitting and it's very important to make sure that whatever clamp you use fits behind that bulge so that the clamp is fully on the fitting and won't crush the fitting if plastic and so that the bulge provides extra sealing. If the clamp is partially resting on the bulge chances are it won't fully seal the hose to the fitting.

so i had my non contact thermometer in the truck with me yesterday... my heat is 135 degrees at 83 degrees ambient (so i have heat now YAYA!!) my AC is 6 degrees... if it is on recirc it is -15 ... ambient for that are 93... think an under filled AC system might be part of my issue? i haven't done anything with the AC since i bought it 5 years ago and i don't believe anything has been done with it in the 7 years since production..

The clamps are behind the bulges and i didn't remove them completely when i did any work except replacing the small hose that i thought i put a pinhole in.. i did them one at a time and back in the spot they were in.. maybe i'll replace all the spring clamps with worm gear as a precaution

drivers side rad hose is about 30 degrees cooler than passengers side...

seems i only have this problem when my AC is on.. AC not on there are no leaks or temp issues
