Im trying to decide what lift to go with. At first I was just going to Franky it, then I saw that JBA actually claims to offer his 4 or 6" lift to CRD owners. He's got a pic of at CRD with the 6" lift.

Anyone here have experience with either the 4 or 6" JBA lift? How is the quality, the ride etc etc. The darn things are BIG BUCKS that's for sure.

Thanks.

Tom

Hi,

that will be interesting to see both 4 in & 6 in lift on a CRD. I must admit with OME 790 colis and 3/8 top plates + 2 clevis ring, you are nearly at 4 in lift at the front. I bet you must change the front drive shaft and they must come in the package otherwise you will end up with issues at the front at least.

I am sitting at 22 in at the front ( so depending if you count from 18.5 or 19 in it's 3.5 in or 3 in lift), but mine is a CRD 2.5 and weighs 300kg less than a 2.8. Saying that i don't have the problems experienced by CRD 2.8 owners with the drive shafts, maybe it's just luck.

You'll need the shaved CVs, and possibly custom driveshafts, or you will be in real trouble from everything I've read. Basically, it seems that once you go and exceed the specs of the OME fitted with a top spacer (whether Boiler or JbA) and maybe a clevis lift, then you really are into serious cash. I wouldn't personally go there, I suspect it costs more than you gain - unless you really want a "I wonder if...." project.

If you really need a lot more ground clearance than the KJ can give (with the usual mods) then really you ought to be looking at a different vehicle - just my view (and you might reasonably ask - what do I know!)

From my past experience of modding bikes (many years ago), it very easily gets to the point where you are spending large amounts of cash and time to do mods; more cash to correct the problems that the mods throw up, and then more cash still to "tidy it all up". You eventually get to the point where you realize (too bl**dy late) that it would have been a fair bit cheaper to have bought a different bike with the specs and capabilities that you wanted. Do NOT ask me how I learned this.

I would agree. Even with shaved CVs there is no reason to go 4inch lift unless you are running 33s. Williamwally has it though with the steel diff. Maybe PM him?

4" of lift barely clears 265/75R16's(31.9" tall) if you actually wheel it.

X2
I stand at 22 in roughly 3 to 3.5 in and I clear without a problem 245/75R16 but owuld cover 265/70R16 without a pounding the pinch weld. I would like to fit taller tyres but but just don't have the space without hitting the pinch weld or rubbing.
If anyone has a good suggestion how to get arround it I would be greateful. maybe change tyres/rims and what to go for.
