Can you stream apps such as Pandora and spotify and android navigation through the uconnect so it plays through the speakers? Also do u have to take it into to the dealership to activate it or can I do it myself ?

I don't see why not. With my aftermarket stereo anything that would come through my phone speaker will come over the bluetooth when activated. Did your KK come with the bluetooth module for the uconnect? If not, you can add it but it's kind of pricey IIRC. You might be better off with an aftermarket option that includes bluetooth.

I figured a uconnect module would only run me like $120. I like the one in there now. I didn't want to reinvent the wheel. I figured I could get one on eBay cheap and throw it in the radio and it would work. But after my last experience with the headlights I wonder if I have to have the dealership modify the cars computer to get it to work :\

The uconnect is $368 from Mopar. Part 82212159

I had looked into the same for my Avenger. Not sure about reprogramming the computer though. I would think the radio would be more different from the fog lights though since it's more of a self contained system.

If you are changing radios and just want bluetooth get an aftermarket radio. Not that Uconnect isnt great, i have it, but in the cae of mine it has a decent delay and sometimes can be heard when playing music or in the case of getting notifications. I have had 2 clarion bluetooth stereos in different vehicles. Just my :2cents:

Right after I bought my KK I ran buy Best Buy to check out aftermarket stereos and the installer told me the wiring harness was going to cost me $100. Was he right or crazy?

I'm trying to decide between Uconnect and a new stereo myself.

Also, if you were able to put a new stereo in your KK, were you able to keep those buttons on the back of the stereo working that control the stereo?

Thanks guys!

I see Uconnect modules labeled as Jeep, Chrysler, Dodge, etc. Are they really that specific or is every uconnect module the same?

Thanks!

Matt

They are specific as to your build. Not all are compatible with all rigs, years, HU, accessories, etc.
For instance if you have a stock sub, and factory installed u-connect, the module is in the RR quarter panel . Non factory installed is located behind the glove box or in the R kick panel. Some are capable of streaming I-phone music, some are not, depending on your HU and which U-connect module you get.
So, No. Not all modules are created equal.
